I suspect that's the cell over towards the hull area. Have u noticed a shift in the wind now?

yes from SSE f1 to NE, NNE f4!

Frequent flashes off to the east now, pretty much over hull. my partner is gonna be in for a rude awakening.

That looks like a beast. Really bright from here in Morley

I was planning an all-nighter but not so sure now. Those cells to my south have not produced anything for a while now.

I think tbh the mcs will kick in when the jet streak moves over the south - set to climb from about 20 to 80 kmh from what I can tell - wont be long before it starts to engage those cells over devon I'd imagine, which is where I see the mcs starting and pivoting/back building across the south east early tomorrow morning -

just the way I see things though -

The London storm cell tracking north moving into the Hendon/Chigwell areas.

Another cell just gone up north of Dorking,Surrey.

Not much lightning from these at the moment (odd flashs going by radar/reports)

The storm went to the west of Grantham and despite me taking 200 pictures with my dslr camera (mostly automatic, set to intervals), they didn't catch a single strike. The lightning appeared while the long exposures were happening but they just didn't appear in the final photo.

......but nevermind, cause I got the chance to use my latest camcorder toy!

The location is looking west of Grantham, over towards the nottingham area. The strikes get better as the skies darken:

*edit* didn't realise it would actually embed the video. Hope this is ok.

Ive been trying the same and the same result. the rest of the exposure must just drown it out or something.

Surprise shower here at the moment with large, convective drops falling. Good to see that the atmosphere is destabilising this far north already!

Looking at the Meteo 5 minute radar, it does seem like there might be some cells developing from Lincoln to Rotherham, expanding eastwards?

What kind of shenanigans is this?

I didn't think there would be a chance of storms here in Scarborough so went to bed. Just woken by a series of frequent flashes.

It's seriously the weirdest thing iv'e seen because there's thick fog at the moment as there has been all day. No thunder or precip. Nearest storm on radar is Hull area. Could the light be travelling that far? perhaps carried further due to the fog? It's eerie i tell thee! Posted Image

I've seen flashes from a storm which was 50 miles away, not sure how far you are from Hull.

Lightning can travel up to 15 miles from the storm, but be seen 25 miles +, these are high elavation storms so thunder maybe minimal, the good stuff is happening over the next 12-24hrs when the cold front crosses Posted Image !
