Swindon had lots of heavy rain but nothing electrical, the radar looks interesting though!

A nice TCu cell out over the Hope Valley currently, seen a few strikes from it here but things have tailed-off in the past few mins. Looks nice on RADAR however so keeping my fingers x'd.

I'm amusing myself with StrikeAlert next to my laptop, apparently there's a major storm within 0-5 miles :D

Sat near to Alrewas after intercepting a storm and now looks like a line of storms has developed. Sporadic lightning with some bursts of more frequent stuff. Thinking now of heading towards Leicester as another cell has popped up heading for there and looks quite good.

Or, I could intercept the Ashbourne cell.....

Edit: Another flash of lightning as I type :)

Still going rain wise but limited T/L.

However our last flash was one of the strobe like ones people have reported, and it looked a bit pink in colour.

Been hit here by the most god almighty downpour, I've measured 25.5mm of rain in an hour and it's still raining now, flood reports coming in for Coventry too.

Wow! what a night! :-0

Got to say with all the red on the NW Extra radar I expected more in the way of rain. It all pretty much passed over me in the SE and all I got was 5.3mm.. Yet the Radar shows RED! I think I'm too used to the old scale still. Red used to mean excitement not 10ish mm/hr boo!

I use the old MetO radar and that showed reds and whites. Think it was largely elevated and so that had a part in which it wasn't as torrential at ground level. Monday night was exceptionally heavy and looked much the same on radar as this evening.

It is v impressive - we had almost UV like violet strobes - impressive even if the thunder was a bit dank lol.

The rain should be coming to an end shortly along the south coast east Anglia's turn next with the heavy stuff

Now following its track the heavy band heading for EA is going out into the north sea so where is the NE's predicted heavy rain coming from? is that going to move back inland or is another band further west going to get more intense tomorrow morning? at the rate its moving it could have moved through most of England by 3am or so

Can report heavy rainfall for the last hour (at least that) in Stanwell (next to Heathrow) also had some deep rumbles of thunder! several deep ones one was quite close too, not thundering now the last was around half hr ago I think (should check the time to report!)

Considering we were in for a monster just a couple of hours ago, what we actually got was more of a mouse.

Not heard any thunder or seen any lightning since my last report, looking at the lightning plotter & intensity of rainfall this whole system is decaying rapidly, all the energy is transferring to the eastern side in the north sea. It'll end up a noisy night over in Benelux again & we'll be left with moderate rainfall or drizzle. What an earth is going on with storms in this country, they are either isolated small cells which damage a area with flooding or just fizzle out to crap & die Posted Image

There is the blackest sea mist moving from the south I have ever seen!!! Without radar you'd be forgiven for thinking its another storm....impressive!!
