I just saw the BBC Weather Forecast and Saturday looks nasty for Central and Eastern England with widespread heavy rain, torrential downpours and thunderstorms. We may see a bit in SW England but more E SW England (East Devon, Somerset and Dorset) to see the most if any rain.

Yes,keeping an eye or two on that area,is this a developing area that convective was ona bout maybe,we shall see.

still sat twiddling lol.

Go towards Derby way seems good that way.

The shower NW of Peterborough looks good. Still. No sferics from any of the showers in the line from N of Derby to N of Boston or from the shower NW of Peterborough.

Watching that cell develop on radar for a while now that's over Oswestry and showing sferics.. nice view from my office out that way of dark dark clouds... if I had the car, I would be pelting up the A49 to intercept Witchurch Way.

Quite a few sferics in the last 10 minutes, but quite far away I think and not getting my hopes up yet.

Later on looks ripe around your area Chris. However sundown will stop much of the convection from initiating. A few showers/ t-storms may linger though!

Looks promising in an arc from central Wales INTO northwest England and out across to Hull. Just waiting and watching to see what happens with the Welsh cells that are more/less on target for here.

Getting bigger the cell out to my north west, as its getting ever closer to here... and the back cell might even get closer... wife arrives here in 15 mins in the car with the kids in the back... I'm going tell them were off for an unexpected post work trip!

Drove through that! It was pretty potent with huge raindrops

Thanks Coast for the radar grab.

Currently sitting outside a Travelodge after purchasing some credit to use their wifi. Looking at the NW extra radar against the GFS charts it seems like things are much less widespread currently than the GFS expect. They have a mass of rain over Eastern England for 9pm!

One storm in the country towards Oswestry. I will wait and see if things get going anywhere else, or to see if that isolated storm is the start of an evening of storms for everyone to the east of it.

I bet it was potent

It sure was, very surprised there was no lightning from it tbh. It looked more elevated in nature too. some sb convection is taking place, seems to be a slight cap on it though :(

I have a feeling those showers coming into Shropshire are going to hit my house in Belper.... I think I may give up chasing and go home to sit and wait for them to come to me.

Stoke on Trent get ready!
