I have a feeling those showers coming into Shropshire are going to hit my house in Belper.... I think I may give up chasing and go home to sit and wait for them to come to me.

Stoke on Trent get ready!

It is looking fairly promising for Derbyshire

Too damn south for here. Moving due east again even with southerly winds. You can bet your bottom dollar that one developing over Wrexham won't move due east!

Don't think anything else major is going to start. Think it will be confined to the area with that cell already there.

The cell to the south of Whitchurch has become a bit of a beast by the looks of it. I am going to go for that one as it trundles slowly west.

What a surprise for the NW Midlands and Shropshire etc. Bet they weren't expecting a beastly cell like that to form!

Two rumbles of thunder heard from a heavy shower which developed north of my location. First rumbles I have heard all summer!!! How lousy is that?!

Darknening skies here despite the nearest cell being towards Stoke. Could just be mid-level outflow but given experience i'd say it looks good to go for the Peaks eastwards.

Regarding Saturday's potential. For the best scenario, we would either want that cold front to arrive a little earlier than scheduled, so that storms can be triggered by diurnal heating across the Midlands tomorrow evening and early night.

The second option would be to have that surface low over the South a little further North and West, so more continental heat can be sucked into the mix and provide more CAPE, the risk for severe storms will then be on, as for a NE'ly straight off the North Sea, that will not be good at all IMO. If the storms are elevated, which if they are, will drift N/NNW, it wont matter as much with the wind direction on the effect of its intensity etc. An interesting period to watch though.

Well the MO think that the cell about to cross the peak will make it to here

Hoping that they are correct, it seems to be building again

Anything still on the Stoke cell?

The stoke one has died, the one south of chester has now got sferics, plus a cell has suddenly popped up west of here.

That's all I've heard as well, though its still looking pretty black out there. Only thing I've been glad about is that I was going out and decided to bring my washing in before I went. Good job as there was some quite big rain drops. Never saw any lightning either :-(

Decided to head home and call it a night. Maybe a little early to give up but with limited internet I was never going to be able to get onto anything. Oh well I can't win them all. Next step is buy a new dongle.
