Those of us keen enough, on waking to hear moderate rain falling, to get out of a warm bed at 0350 and inspect the car windscreen with a powerful torch were rewarded with the first sleet of the season here; the temperature was 2.0c at the time.

After a clear start to the night it gradually clouded over with light rain, then moderate wet sleet, arriving during the early hours. This gave way to drizzle and thick hill fog by 0600 which in turn was replaced by light-moderate rain from 0845; the fog has lifted in the last half hour.

At 0900;

Temp; 4.5c

Grass min; -1.6c

Rainfall in 24 hrs ending 0900; 2.7 mm

Mean wind speed; 13 mph SW

Sky obscured by fog

Continuous light rain
