Nice brief, little storm there. Was like being in a car wash for a few minutes, few flashes in the distance. Nothing special, but certainly a perk! Almost derecho like!

remind me not to use your car wash

:)

Dreadful storm here a while back -didn't last long but as somebody else said like an almighty roar and torrential rain and wind -quite scarey for a few moments.

Mod thread not a pleasant place to be - have to wonder what these people are like in the real world when the weather causes such tantrums  and rows - we are all interested and have our weather preferences but really .......

well i've been around the forums for a while and no matter how many times i venture into the Model thread i never really understand why there is so much emotion there. i still, and always never will,  understand why some people think the models drive the weather.

as we've just seen, the squall that has passed us is a testimony as to how diverse and unpredictable the weather (mother nature) can be :D

Just gone through here, 3 flashes, very heavy rain, and two bins from the end of the road outside my house, don't know how strong the wind was, but that's the first time this year some else's bins have gone half way up the street.

Just looked at the meto model, it still has the easterly at 120, how do the mad thread know that 144 is a down grade, we don't ever see the frame after that. That signal may have been there yesterday for all we know.

Essex Weather Centre â€@EssexWeather 9m

Looking into reports of a brief tornado near Harlow and Colchester between 16:30 and 17:00. Plenty of fence panels, walls down elsewhere!

it was a monsoon for about 20 minutes - very mild, with a strange tang to the air. Then came the hail and now its quiet and calm. Quite a few rumbles of thunder - nothing loud but quite deep. Very odd for January, but then I remember thunder-snow about 8 years ago.
