Just cloudy murky weather here with moderate rain.

No sign of the sun, or the chance of storms.

That first line is dying 20 miles south of here, what a surprise... Second one looks stronger, but the Mid Shropshire Convection Killing Mechanism is a tough nut to crack.

Two batches of very active cells exiting Northern France heading gradually NNE which will affect Dorset/Somerset/Wiltshire late evening and overnight. If the cells are elevated they will hopefully survive the Channel crossing bringing thundery activity with them. However if they are surface based it's more likely to be just rain by the time they get here - unless the temperature contrast between the land and sea helps regeneration as they come onto the South coast.

Had what looked like heavy wet snow mixed in with torrential rain from one of the best thunderstorms of the year so far here. Turns out it was more like sleety soft hail, but did look as though it was trying to snow. (Sorry about the fuzzy image quality on some of these pics - were video stills):

Recent clearance of the storm:

Sorry, I'm at home in Staffordshire at the moment! Didn't realise there might be confusion in my excitement :p

Had a few heavy downpours today but nothing that exciting! Its too far out at the moment but next week could be interesting - the trend for low pressure to sit to our SW with mild-warm s/se air flow could promote some thundery showers.

Will need to wait for high resolution though for the finer details...as I'm sure the more knowledgeable will know whether the various factors are in our favour or against us closer to the time...
