February, the month of lengthening days, frost and Northern blocking.

But all we have is one low after another.

Just feels like we've been stuck in October for four months.

Has the calender changed or something?

Like groundhog day, but rain instead of snow!

Does seem more like wetweather recently.

Perhaps we should change our name....you never know it might make the rain stop Posted Image

"Here" being  on E/W Sussex borders with Surrey 8 miles away and Kent not too further (12 miles) either....makes for interesting reading of the Met Office warnings!)

........the Met O warnings say it all really, they might as well just put 'wet and windy until further notice'

I Hate rain and would much rather we had snow and ice but even then you can have too much of a good thing....

I'm probably on my own here, but I have been enjoying this mad weather with met office warnings popping out every few days for weeks now.

I would prefer it if most of this had been while under a big strong cold spell though lol, would of beaten 1947 with all these lows that keep on coming.

I still think we will see some snow yet to, once winter starts ;)

Metcheck isn't generally rated highly, but their Warnings are OK I think

Never seen FOUR published at the same time

Metcheck issue a range of weather alerts ranging from Weather Watches to Flash Weather Warnings. The latest alerts will appear on this page as well as a banner displayed across the top of all pages on the website.

A description of the type of advisories we issue can be found at the bottom of the page.

Click Here to find out how we decide on weather watches and warnings.

Weather Watch For Heavy Rain and Severe Gales

A deepening Atlantic low pressure system is expected to bring heavy rain and very strong winds across much of the UK during Tuesday night and much of Wednesday.

Exact details at this stage are to be determined, but this system could bring rainfall accumulations of up to 1 inch (25mm) across the south and southwest of England and Wales, with perhaps up to 40mm falling in some spots. As a result flooding will once again become an increasing concern following the very wet winter so far.

In addition to the rain, very strong winds are expected too with gusts of 60-70 mph possible and perhaps even 80 mph along some coastlines in the southwest.

This Weather Watch will be updated on Monday.

Weather Watch for Heavy Rain and Gales

Confidence is now growing for a new area of low pressure to develop to the South of the UK during Thursday and push slowly North-east.

Heavy rain is expected across much of South-west, South and South-east England as well as South and Central Wales coupled with gale force winds across the South-west and later the Eastern half of the UK.

This heavy rain will extend North-east towards Central and later North-east England.

Between 20-30mm of additional rainfall is expected widely across much of England and South and Central Wales between 12pm Thursday and 12pm Friday.

Fri 7 Feb : 18:00 GMT(In 46hrs)

Valid Until

Weather Watch for Heavy Rain and Severe Gales

A new active area of low pressure (expected to be Storm Ruth) will push in from the Atlantic during Saturday bringing very similar conditions to those experienced on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week across much of England and Wales.

Heavy rain will push in ahead of gales and later severe gales on Friday evening across the South-west with Saturday seeing gale force to severe gale force winds across Western areas.

Disruption to travel and power is possible with the increased risk of loosed topsoil falling trees.
---END---

High Risk   Moderate Risk   Low Risk   No Risk Posted ImagePosted Image Issued

Wed 5 Feb: 09:00 GMT

Valid From

Mon 10 Feb : 00:00 GMT(In 100hrs)

Valid Until

Mon 10 Feb : 18:00 GMT (118hrs remaining)

Weather Watch for Heavy Rain

There is currently low/moderate confidence of an area of heavy rain pushing into South-west and Southern England during Monday morning.

Current model guidance shows an additional 10-20mm of rainfall along the Southern counties. However, recently models have pushed these disturbances further North and increased intensity and this system cloud follow that pattern.

This watch will be upgraded or removed as the situation becomes clearer.

Evening all,

Well whilst it has remained mostly dry in the last few hours the wind has not let up, if anything the gusts have got worse, seen a few fences down on my walk back from the other village to home, not feeling cold out though, if anything as the evening has progressed the temps have risen, or thats how it felt anyway.

the thing is, is that its winter; and as rubbish as it is there is no getting away from the fact that its been a winter different to the last few. i love snow, cold, frost, ice days, yet i also think that this winter.... so far... has been good too. wind, rain, storms, thunder and lightning. it all makes for a reason to be in awe with our temperate climate :) lets face it. if every winter was the same old same old in the uk then we'd be bored with it. instead we are worried people are suffering flooding, worried that areas of land won't recover and concerned about the next lot of rain/wind..... who knows?? perhaps spring might be our winter???

Where I'm going to live. I had a good idea.... is there anyone else as fed up as me out there? Get enough points on the Canadian immigration authorities and you're in. We just scraped in because we've both got degrees in things they want.

Buy about 40 acres, split it into 5 acre plots and you can buy kit houses or traditional Canadian log cabins which are up in a couple of months... they have a National Health System too. but it's better than ours as there are less people using it and if you want to upgrade your treatment (like a specialist or private room) the State pays its proportion of the costs instead of you having to pay all of them.

The cost of living's much cheaper, they don't owe anyone a penny, 67% of their power comes from hydro, the rest is nuclear, coal and gas and they're more or less self-sufficient. Summers are hot and sunny so long as you don't live too near the coast on the right side of the Rockies.

No brainer.

having been a civil servant for 25 + years i have often considered going to Canada. got a degree in engineering and other qualifications too. plus i have a distant relative there too..... might start considering it again :) but not for weather, more for quality of life :D
