It's raining, again! *sob*

Saturday still looks like it could be seriously crapola, not sure if that nasty low showing up on the charts yesterday for next Tue is still there?

Steady but mostly light rain in Reigate since about 10am. Looks like lots more to come, and some of it heavy. Youngest's 11th birthday today - on Sunday I promised him it would be 11 degrees on his 11th. So far it's got no higher than 6.8c so it looks like I've let him down!

At least I didn't promise a blizzard.

Estofex Level 1 issued for southern Britain for today.

http://estofex.org/

"A plume of warm and moist Atlantic air spreads north-eastward into western and central Europe ahead of an intense surface low. Latest La Coruna sounding indicates a deep moist layer with 7 g/kg mixing ratio up to 800 hPa and moist adiabatic lapse rates between 850 and 650 hPa. During the noon and afternoon hours, a strong mid-level jet streak will approach from the west ahead of a progressing short-wave trough. Q vectors indicate strong QG forcing in the range of this jet streak that affects the Bay of Biscay and the British Isles today. This may lead to slightly steeper lapse rates and CAPE will likely evolve........."

Basically means..

you have a front, with some warm air mixed in with a strengthening jet that will allow for some "convection" or thundery showers/spell to get going IF the conditions are right :)

With the low pressure system there too there is a lot of energy in the atmosphere to get things going Posted Image

I think?

I got as far as 'warm and moist' before my eyes started glazing over and my brain went into shutdown. At least CAPE will evolve. Batman to the rescue !!!

Yep that second band could cause a problem, but this band going through at the moment, the heavy stuff is moving NE along the channel

I can assure you it's clipping the south of East Sussex. Road is on a slope and bottom of the road is flooding and the guy who lives at the bottom works for the Environment Agency oh the irony

Hammering down here in Southampton as well - but there's some very heavy rain going through the channel so could have been a lot worse for more of the southern counties if it had tracked on a more NNE direction

Just ventured out with doggy as I forgot I had a docs appt this morning. Rain has also eased off a little so better for walking in.

Mole was fast moving and a good swell going at Longbridge, (Horley/Gatwick), but still within bank about an hour ago.

Off to visit mum in the nursing home today so need to cross The Mole again later. Roof was pouring water in yesterday but isn't today.

Stay safe.

How was the meal at the Coach & Horses CK? When we go to Ruxley, I often hint to Mr Raven it would be nice to have dinner there one evening. Although it seems I am obviously not hinting well enough! As for the weather - dull, dull and more dull. And later it appears it's going to be wet, wet and even more wet. Joy!

Snow Raven, the meal was great, service great as well, we went for the full lot, I'm allergic to fish (more especially the smell), she who must be obeyed loves fish and they specialise in fish, Marion had lemon sole and she reckon it was really nice, I had to force down a T-bone steak rare which was very nice and it beat me. Sweet was something I never had before strawberries and pineapple with a very nice juice. Starter was the best I ever had basically it was wild mushrooms with few bits of fillet steak thrown in, served in a beautiful thick Madeira sauce, still dribbling thinking about it now. Wasn't cheap, but worth the expense, have special offers between Tuesday and Thursday although as I felt she needed spoiling I didn't look at these. Meal took around 2 hours which I like, as we where not rushed. Coffee was good as well. We will go again, don't know why we stopped going, one of my major gripes about living in Dartford is the lack of good restaurants, and I forgot about this one. Think the above meal was better than the bacon butty I had this morning in the little chef, one day they will also put some new coffee in the coffe machine as its getting weaker on every visit.Light rain in Peterborough and have been for a little while. 'noon all :)

can i ask a favour???

anyone got some nails i can use.... my ark needs an extension :D

actually its not too bad here; so far. radar showing rain band headed towards SE18 but nothing biblical. cool here though, 6.9C currently. rain and windy too.

took my daughter for a college interview this morning. she wants to do sports science. been a modest person she didnt speak up for herself much. needless to say i told them of the fact she was voted player of the year for the whole of Kent two years running, and won it last season. also won player of the year for her league last two years too. one step away from national team :)

the interviewer immediately said she would be made captain of the collge team if she got a place as he had heard lots of good things about her already. and to think, i cant even kick a ball straight

mind you, he was just as interested in talking to me too. he was convinced i am a body builder. kept telling him the heaviest thing i lift is a coffee cup

Thanks for the update Storme! I work in London rd just south of Charlwood/Gatwick and my boys are with the inlaws at the moment in ifield Green who live next to the river (Mole is it?)

It flooded before Xmas but so far so good! I'll be surprised if it still hadn't flooded by end of Sat though!
