A period of moderate rain from the edge of that storm, heard a very distant rumble too.

If they could just nudge a tiny bit further north then our neck of the woods would be in with a chance.

No showers yet, but lots of convection going on, wonderful billowing clouds!

I've just been to Corfe castle for a doctors appointment, it gave me an opportunity to grab a photo of the castle.

Up to 15℃ in the sunshine now, perhaps something might fire later?! :)

This would explain why the storms are firing where they are...

I'm right under that convergence zone, hopefully I can get some fireworks later on :)

Just had quite a loud rumble.

some nice warm sunshine now, with Cu Congestus readily forming....modelling provides a messy picture for this afternoon, as GFS models modest CAPE build up this afternoon (350 j/kg or so) subject to insolation of course) modest lifted indices with modest lapse rates over most southern counties, the best lapse rates are to be found along the south coat, whereas the NMM hi-res modelling goes for just 100-200 j/kg of CAPE, poor lifted indices and variable surface flows with the best areas for wind convergence being along or just off the south coast....so I'd go for generally slow moving showers with the potential for a high rainfall amounts in localized areas with the odd rumble of thunder as opposed to more organized showers/storms

This is a current grab from the NW v6. Shows the monster cell near Reading slowly trundling best part of due East to West.

Weakening shear will mean that any storms that develop are unlikely to be long lasting, although some decent levels may persist towards the SW.

Had a bit of thunder yesterday evening to the north (after hearing some distant rumbles to the NW from the cell near Tiverton), saw a few faint flashes and then one powerful looking CG 2-3 miles away with interesting sounding thunder.

Quite sunny here with a light sea breeze and 15.5c, cumulus congestus has been bubbling to the north for a bit but nothings formed a CB yet. Am travelling back to uni in Egham this afternoon so wonder what I'll see on the way.
