Had some lovely sunshine over the last hour, can now see some dark bases to clouds, looks a lot more organised than a few hours back.

Not at all, showers exploding into life through the heart of the country - they'll develop alright. In fact Derby looks well placed for these. I remember the time you missed one in Belper :) that was a tad unlucky, but then chasers are made of sterner stuff.

Ha ha indeed we are. I have had worse. Biggest fail ever was when I lived near Halifax and went all the way down to S.Lincs on what looked to be a great set up. I saw one flash from a weak storm near Stamford where a supercell developed just north of Doncaster. I was gutted. August 3rd 2011, will never forget it. If Derby gets one this evening then at least I am directly upwind currently.

Storm likely Ledbury soon, heading towards the Malverns. Looking good.

Agreed.... the next 30 mins will be interesting viewing, in just seeing how they develop... i hope they explode :shok:

Hi All, Well this is dreary, the day is young :)That clump moving northwards, is destined for East Sussex, Kent.

Hmm...bit too much NE shift IMO (if not now, it will in the next few hours I reckon)

Anyone have any MLCAPE charts they could share?

As per usual.... utter dross   :wallbash:

At the moment the Metoffice pptn charts are pretty spot on, so my chance comes around 7pm.

After a fun evening here in Liverpool last night what do you think the chances of that band heading up Wales are of hitting us again tonight? To my untrained eye it looks maybe to  be moving a bit too much North East, but I may be wrong.

Severe drizzle kicking in here now MD issued get everybody indoors :p In all seriousness i wouldn't be surprised if this cluster explodes into life as it moves northward

Pretty potent-looking storm gone up over the North York Moors, could cause some flooding issues given the terrain:

Line of showers/storms stretching SE from N Wales down to IoW appears to mark the cold front moving up from the SW.

Fair amount of mid-layer convection going on around here, notably to the south with some deep bases.

After a fun evening here in Liverpool last night what do you think the chances of that

Yes, it was fun wasn't it. Had four cells go over in a row, was down at Crosby beach for two of them. I believe that sells today are still moving north, or slightly west of North, as there isn't any westerly component to the flow is there?
