Earthquakes continuing looking the dike may have moved further north again. Certainly no clear drop in quakes which means the feeding of magma continues

big quake on the way IDYN.png

I think that was a Mag 5+ harmonic tremor has increased aswell, could be water interaction or more of the fissure erupting elsewhere, locals will be hoping it is not interacting with Askja and its rhyolite pockets which are explosive.

The fissure is currently out gassing no lava visible yet.

^^^ @ Tom   They tend to review larger quakes I would think 4.8 is a bit low for that one.

Pity the web cams are down. The server hasn't gone the fissure has it?

The 4.8 was beneath Bárðarbunga's caldera, yet more slippage of the chamber i'd imagine as the magma continues to exit outside along the Askja fissure.

Only on UK Ip addresses, I am using an american ip address and they work fine.

Nicely spotted - just tried via a VPN with a US IP address and they now work just fine.

As an aside, I wonder what is causing the wobbling, distorting 'heat haze' effect on camera 2?

Heat haze would be my guess, made worse because i believe the camera is zoomed in on the steam vent area.

how do you get a us ip adress cannot work

you have to use a VPN (Virtual private network) to change your ip address to another somewhere else in the world. i.e usa

The fissure is still showing steam venting at the moment so nothing has really changed since early today i think.

try this link http://www.livefromiceland.is/e/

it worked earlier on.

I agree about the ash updates.  But they are right not to issue them if there isn't any :-)

ANYTHING is better than TV.....

But there again I'm working (from home thankfully) so TV is off the menu

From that report

"The eruption fissure is about 5 kilometers from the Vatnajökull glacier. The fissure appears to be about 1 kilometer long. The lava is thin and flowing quickly southeast towards the glacier."

I assume that means the lava on the surface is flowing southeast?  Everything we've seen to date suggests it's moving north to North east towards Askja
