A few ponderings from myself regarding the next couple of weeks, courtesy of the MOD thread which I thought may interest a few. Just don't get too carried away.   :unknw:

We do not bite :good:

Much talk about a possible white christmas- however by the look of things I'd say 60% of the country will be soaked by rain. Things are looking very interesting, however I'll not be fooled. Till its on the doorstep, eagerly awaiting for the ECM run to roll out. :)

As long as the 28th and 29th December are snow free I don't care! Flying from Heathrow on the 29th to Prague for NYE. As much as I love snow, please don't snow them days!!

Cool and calm this evening, but things are set to change over night, with wet and mild becoming the new norm for the next couple of days.

3.6c here currently

Hit 4.3c about an hour ago now, thought we were going lower, but nope, Shame!

Looking forward to some milder temperatures though to be honest, will heat the house up a bit! Not had the heating on much lately due to cost, house has been dropping to 11-14c, so I top it back up to 17c, turn the heating off. lol!

My purely novucd hat on says it's going to be a rollercoaster aandthus us the UK and anything and everything does happen..... Going to be interesting

Evening, a reasonable day with sunny spells. Not too cool again.

So Christmas....

ECM

ECM1-216.GIF?16-0

Rubbish, mild with outbreaks of rain for most of the day

GEM

gem-0-216.png?12

Maybe, just maybe a white Christmas :) (Ignore the 850s, an issue with the model)

GFS
gfs-0-216.png?12

An increasingly wet one, but the pattern looks promising beyond this point.

If anything we are seeing more uncertainty compared to yesterday where there was broad agreement.

My feelings are on no snow for the big day but perhaps some before new year.

Not sure as regards current conditions as it's dark, but generally cloudy here (mid-level stuff) apart from this morning which was brighter.  Having got that out of the way to keep the moderators happy, I see the MAD thread is in confusion - Matt Hugo's Twitter feed has been showing tweets of an extreme mild ramping nature. :sorry:

I will take snow on my birthday 27th MR Shortwave . :-). It wouldn't be the first time infact 5th time but I've never seen a flake fall on Christmas Day . Seems weird almost like we have a hoodoo.

Anyone know what the record is for highest temp at like 5-6am this time of year? Was very mild this morning I was telling everyone at work not to come dressed in them big Russian hats and thick shawls& gloves etc. Hopefully this is the calm before the cold and snow!

Hi well it takes some practice and some initiative. :) smiley face is ":)" just take out quotation marks. Hmm ":(" is sad face there's so many... anyway back to the models looking increasingly likely we will plunge into the cold side of things... potentially very snowy & very festive feeling, stay tuned. :)

Fresh from GFS 12z

Christmas Day GFS P

Cold uppers entrenched 4 corners of the British Isles temperatures hovering around freezing!!

White Christmas? the odds will be cut substantially if this is on the horizon, getting little excited. :D

Evening

A milder day here, wet start and never really got any brighter as the cloud remained all day.  At least the wind has dropped.

Added bonus, no need to de-ice the car in the morning :)
