Showers to the South and to the North.  Temp seems to be falling here now.  1.5c. Perfect for sleet.

In fact there is some fantastic sleet falling here now.   This winter really has been one of the best I cam remember for sleet.  1.2c

I have greatly appreciated your depressed and resigned humour in the face of the shockingness of this winter. :)

Wet snow here for a bit -a dusting on cars.

We must be out the warm sector as the temp here has fallen to 0.5c.  There is a serious risk of this sleet turning to snow.  If I actually get any ppn bearing clouds.  I am in the dry sector looking at the radar.

Had a mixture of drizzle showers, rain showers and one hail shower this evening.

Winter 14/15 has arrived.

Sleet is now increasingly turning to snow here ,teaming down in a strong NW veering N/NE. So bodes quite well for you lot further inland.

Don't worry, FP, the radar seems to show that you are indeed in "the gap", as am I now... you can rest assured that you will not have your sleet-or-nothing fest ruined by the white stuff.

Thanks for the reassurance.  I feel so much better now.  Although I am concerned that the ppn seems to be developing from nowhere in the n. Sea.  its 0.3c now so the wet ground is about to ice over.

I can see the clouds from here, very slow moving but looks like it's heading this way, can't really tell it's so slow.

I'm currently defrosting the big freezer, feels a bit wrong as it's the best kind of snow ive seen in there lol

Looks like that shower that hit here earlier has slid by Jarrow/Hebburn just to the south. Just very wet here and cant see any ice/frost developing as the temp here is  2.1℃, it is falling but with the wind expected to come off the north sea i cant see it falling below freezing around coastal areas.

In all seriousness, the radar does look pretty bleak atm for those of us between Durham and Morpeth. Compare this to the way the N Sea was churning out heavy snow showers in 2010... different world.

I know.

Plus the temperatures were a good 2 or 3 degrees colder as well back in 2010.

I will be amazed if we get even so much as a couple of cm's of snow over the next 24/36 hours before the convection dies away.

Dont throw the towel in yet Nick. Those showers to our North are heading this way, should start to make an appearance around 10pm. Dewpoint here now has just gone into -values and temp is falling off quickly now.

Yes they seem to be heading this way.  Just need them not to disperse.  -0.1c here now

We've got one more band of rain, sleet and snow moving down which I've circled after that we've got a big gap between the rain bands, the band I've circled was east of Dundee around 18:00 and its just getting to us now
