when you say goes round us does that mean we won't get the rain but will get the wind...I do apologise im a bit thick

We'll get the wind I'd imagine and probably some rain but at the moment there is a large dry area showing on the radar, probably caused by being in a rain shadow that covers most of the south of the region.

Never mind it's 4.3c and rising so little doubt that it's only rain we're missing and not snow.

What causes the rain to skip around Manchester area? I remember a similar scenario when Wales had that red warning for snow about 2 yr ago and the band of snow coming up from the South broke up around Manchester...It was so frustrating. Luckily this time we appear to be missing out on boring old rain

Well we didn't quite manage a decent snowcover overnight, but still awoke to a good 2 cm cover of grapul snow/hail pellets - lethal stuff, very icy. This cover has remained in tact on grass and my house roof.

Now raining..

Fells will see further snow tomorrow, with potential for more low level snow on Friday and a wintry weekend but hopefully good clear spells and frost leading to some excellent winter walking conditions.

The second swathe of winds which will pick up from tomorrow morning from the W/SW will be the most strongest from this storm, especially areas further north in our region.

So the wind at the moment will fizzle out a bit but pick up again in the morning? Dont like windy storms
