SAT24 shows a huge area of cloud so doubt it lol

I'm using LBA weather station which is super accurate

A scan on XC shows the area red reporting a drop in temperatures and all at 2/3.c ahead of the encroaching front.

Outside of red is around 6.c so interesting to note the variation in temperatures and why places like Sheffield aren't seeing the temperature values further north are seeing.

Although it does kinda fit EURO4 narrative of snow accumulation further north.

I'm not really expecting anything tonight or tomorrow below around 1000ft. It's extremely marginal with uppers of around -2 and we all know what a dreaded influence the weather coming in off a mild irish sea has! Alongside the warm ground/soil temperatures (after such a mild winter) even if snow does try to settle at low levels it will almost melt from underneath (notice how after nov/dec 2010 even the most marginal unfeasable cold snaps produced sporadic snowfalls or freezing rain events due to the previous months extremely low freezing temperatures..

I reckon there'll be a long period of wet snow to low levels across Leeds

A good 9 hours from that.

Yes Could be some wet snow and pretty on the eye but just can't see anything other than a covering of slush at best for low levels. Think it will be a grim day down here, but certainly worth a drive up the chevin (950ft.)

Metoffice weather has upped our forecast further, now has Heavy snow all day tomorrow until 8pm, so it does look like it might be swinging into favour for at least North and West Yorkshire. The Met office site is the only one I trust when it comes to snow, due to it having human modification and not just a raw model feed as per most sites.

Back in the 80's growing up in the peak district there was often talk of snow above 600 feet tonight the 600 feet level has been mentioned on the TV forecasts so will be interesting to see how accurate they are. I now live north of Sheffield in a village where the top is above 600 feet  but my house  is lower!

Just got a funny feeling they could be a few surprises tomorrow. Think my area will do well. But I also think lower ground may see a decent covering if the precipitation is heavy enough.

Wouldn't want to be deciding when to grit tonight! Too early and it could get washed away by an rain before any snow falls, leave it too late.... And the obvious happens!

Surprises would be lovely come morning. But I don't hold out much hope to be honest, 100m above sea level ain't going to cut it is it? Everything I have read states, over 200m.

I am all out of optimism now unfortunately :(

Really not sure what to expect here. 120Masl in NW Leeds. Got a nice if transient covering on Wednesday and it was raining until about 8 am. Certainly worth a trip to the Chevin if no snow here.
