The storm that was over S Manchester earlier seems to have split, if you follow the radar loop, and the right hand portion of it is now moving NE towards Leeds with the rest heading due North. Interesting....

A pic of the Cell to my North.

Is that an overshooting top? Also what is the weird cloud at the top of it? looks almost like a sonic boom? glaciation?

IOW is always having it ;)

100% MCS always does blow me away the sheer size they can swell, last year the one in Germany/Belgium was like a mothership. I have not had a proper storm in over 8 months pray to the Gods!

that mad storm France Germany we had the edge of that in brum (well the cloud anyway)

Thought the NW never had storms? Doing much better than the Midlands!

It was the best display I've seen since moving to Manchester in 2003. The clouds as they depart are strobing wildly. Not much thunder during the main act, too high and too much rain for it to get through.

Lightning looking out towards Penistone / Holmfirth. Unfortunately no accompanying thunder.

Excuse the poor quality, taken in a rush!

It's nowhere near here either but it's incredibly bright nonetheless. A decent consolation prize for an otherwise very poor evening.

Couple of strikes now between Pontefract and Doncaster but no radar returns on NW. Is something getting going in this area one wonders? It's well to the east of the rest of the activity.

Clouds are lit up, must be something at last, oh, no it's the moon. Radar shows it going mental 20 miles either side of me and still we get nothing. Cloud all day while everywhere got 30C, cloud all night while everywhere else gets storms. God I hate living here sometimes....

I'm in Bomere Heath and didn't see any lightning at all. It looked to be over towards Shawbury way, can't see how it could get from town to Whitchurch and miss us'

After cloudy nothing all day, were feeding everywhere else and getting nothing.

Well, check the Radar out in the Am with lightening record. To be fair it was not directly north of town it was over haughmond. When I could see the lightening.

Still sweltering and things developing but think it will be to the benefit of up north, as you say. Lots more chances fort he biggy this week. It's coming!

Still an impressive view from what must be 30 miles away from my viewpoint

Constant inter cloud flashes and also lightening visible, which at times is slightly coming out of the cloud tops edges.

The storm that was over Burnley is now approaching Settle, i.e it has moved due North but the one now approaching Bradford was earlier over Manchester, a NE direction of travel...... Isn't this what the Skipton storm did earlier?

Hi all

Just back home from work with my eyes firmly trained on the radar and satellite as thundery showers / storms are expected to develop in our area overnight. The current storm over Biscay appears to be heading in a NNE direction and will probably miss us but as with all developing situations, anything can quite literally happen  8)

I'll also be cheering on our England ladies tonight in their epic semi-final against Japan so hopefully we'll see some flashes of brilliance from our team together with some thunderous goals ... I'll see myself out  :unsure2:
