Got my eye on that stuff moving out of Cardiff. Along shot but I'll track it just in case then go bed if it peters out. The NE Mids are in for a belter.

Fingers crossed with that!

Lightning starting up again to the east of here. God damn if I was 10-20 miles eastwards I would probably be in the thick of it. As per usual though there seems to be a protective dome system over this village whereby all lightning is diverted both east and west.

The chiltens ma Be? Eased off her now, I can still hear and see the lightning flickering in the distants and the low grumbles! What an amazing few hours, some of those bolts were so close, power went out at Royal Mail Home Counties North in Hemel Hempstead a lot of mail is sorte there so you might get packages late haha

Excuse the grammar as I'm on my phone!

Hold your horses a beauty is coming your way.

Check this: http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime

I've never seen anything like this for homegrown storms.

I'd say the stuff to the left is going north and the stuff to the right is heading out over the coast! Might get a distant light show with a bit of luck!

I'm waiting patiently. It's creeping gingerly north.

Sky still just looks hazy. I'm just waiting for the first flickers in the distance.

SO gutted that all this wasnt shunted 100miles west, I guess its better luck next time! However its truly amazing, forecasts were great and the shear size of this event is amazing!

That cleared the air a bit! Amazing storm in fact there were several, anyone due just north of these best watch out. They just creep upon you and go ballistic. What's that stuff coming out of South Wales?

Originated in Devon! As soon as it hit Wales it grew massively!

This is agonising, especially since it looks like the weakest part is heading towards me. Everything strong slightly to the west or east.

I was getting ready for bed but I spy development over the East of Chester. if it feeds off te bigger stors she could grow creating a country-wide band of storms!

its getting tense now, seen lighting flashes and thunder rumbles for last 15mins, and most of storms are still due South 20 to 30miles away, from everyones reports it looks like a special night ahead, or should I say morning.

should be the firing line for this lot.

You're over Watford way right? I swear a lot of the strikes were right overhead your way, around Rickmansworth and Watford?

Got a couple of strikes in the chalfonts but most was further to my east and then a band of strikes occurred over High Wycombe way west of here after that. Didn't get anything right over head (as per usual) but I'm not complaining that was some great viewing and I have some decent footage, as long as my olympus camera isn't a pile of crap for lightning, which I'll find out once it's USB'd to the comp.

Finally calmed down here in west London after nearly 3 hours of constant lightning, almost strobe lightning at times with rarely more than 10 seconds between flashes

Best storms I've seen in years, a shame most were in the distance but a few massive crashes (that I managed to get on video) all the same so no complaints whatsoever.

What a night :D
