Lots of hoo-haa going on, watching Spotlight, and the weather with David Braine

Why wasn't the storm given a name

Well they only started naming these storms

Does it really matter, what it was called?

Storm force winds from an unusual direction (north)

Yes, there will be disruption

They mentioned disruption likely within the warnings yesterday

Well, finished up with 34.2mm here!  It turns out that the some of the strongest winds and some of the highest rain totals were in an area that the MetO didn't bother to put in the warning zone. I don't have a problem with these situations usually, as the weather is fickle, but to not bother filling in a small zone with a warning seems like pure laziness to me- made no sense whatsoever.

Ended up working late tonight, the wind has dropped compared to this morning and seemed more north westerly, plenty of standing water still about so much so a manhole cover in the road had water rushing out high even to wash the bottom of my car.

Going back to Mapantz snow photos, we definitely didn't have any snow last winter or the one before, not even a flake.  The last time there was any lying snow in my garden was March 16th 2013 and some wet snow in showers that didn't settle on 13th February 2014.

Thankfully saw some falling snow this morning in the Blandford area around 8am It was quite blizzard like with the very gusty winds.

First I have seen since Feb 3rd last year.

Minimum temperature was 5.2C (it is 5.3C now). Plenty of time spent under bright yellow/orange radar echoes, but only rain received.

I just want to know if that font looks ok and whether it is easy to read everything?

Looks good to me, very easy to use and easily readable. Now I want to know when you're going to bring my site up to date

PS You can't use Cumulus..

Splosh, splosh, just emptying my wellies after yesterday, today we are in a different country I'm sure, I see blue skies and a yellow thing. I understand why it took the day off yesterday it was upset at being eclipsed by something smaller in life!

Today:

Temp 3.3°C

DP 2.3°C

RH 93%

1013.4 mb Rising

Rainfall 19.5mm

Wind 3.5mph WNW

Conditions: Drying (slowly) partly cloudy.

Final total for yesterday's system was 21.9mm.  Surprised to find only 1.5 in the gauge this morning as the rain persisted here virtually all day, must have been considerably lighter than the radar was indicating.

I'm sure the forecast said it was going to be cloudy / overcast  today, yet we have glorious blue skies and sunshine.

Somewhat ironically the frontal cloud cleared far enough East to allow a frost to form at first light before it returned Westwards by 07.00! It's been a dry, cloudy but reasonably bright day, I expect in a month or so the sun would have burned through, 7.7c .

Sounds better than here, grey, murky, 5c. And I'm spending what is usually my day off, at work, computer training :nonono:

You can clearly see why we are so cloudy and Cornwall isn't!
