Currently 6.8°C, minimum overnight 5.3°C. I may actually get a frost tomorrow night or maybe later tonight as the winds veer off-shore for a time.

It's certainly shaping up to be a different feeling November from last year, that's for sure, although frustratingly the glory charts always seem to be 10+ days out. (no surprises there)  Just had a spell of cold rain, hopefully that will change more to spells of snow falls as we head into winter proper.

Looks like quite a significant snow event for higher parts of

The region Tuesday night some models indicating up to 13cm

Looks like this system will stall at some stage as the block over

Scandi is going to stop the system from exiting the East, all good

Stuff as we are still a few weeks of official winter,of course for

Us guys on low ground cold icy rain is the best we can hope for

However i would imagine 200m plus will wake up to there first

Snow of the season

Enjoy

Been doing jobs around the house today so not ventured outside but it's looked a thoroughly miserable afternoon with plenty of showers.

all rain here though even at 1400 ft on the tops.

maybe some snow from that stalling front on Tuesday night but it looks like more eastern parts will keep the cold air longer and in our region it's more marginal, certainly without significant altitude.

as you said though, it's early days with plenty more opportunities on the way.

I'll take it if offered, just not getting too excited just yet.

even at my altitude it's usually a bit early in the season for snow although when I was a kid, late 60's early 70's I seem to remember at least a couple of times around bonfire night with thick snow and frost on the ground so it's certainly possible.

The beeb put me down only 3C top temperature in Chorley. :cold:  It is going to be a raw day especially with the cold icy rain maybe bit of wet snow if I'm lucky!!

First grauple/sleet here of the season close to Buxton, heard reports that earlier on in the morning there was a slight dusting of snow on Kinder Scout which doesn't surprise me.

Looking forward to Monday night into Tuesday morning for what should be a decent frost aslong the high cloud from the front to the west does not get too thick too quickly. Should be some nice "white scenes" come Tuesday morning!

Can't help but feel if only the air was just a touch colder then the risk of lowland snow could well increase, won't be losing much sleep over it mind you and it would appear for the majority of Tuesday, it be a case of watching the cloud slowly thicken up and the frost slowly melting away!

Should be a decent frost tonight for most areas, the sharpest one of the Autumn so far.  Not expecting any snow at local level on Wed, but the tops of the hills might see a dusting.  Can't argue with that with over a month to go before the official start of winter.

The slightest of grass frosts this morning, not even enough to record it as an official ground frost. Currently 2.7°C which is the minimum. Expecting my first frost overnight tonight.

Would not be surprised to see sleet to low levels overnight Tuesday

In the heavier bursts, the hills are going to get a good covering though

Things are so different to last year have a feeling us coldies will be

Very happy come months end/beginning December.

There i have jinxed it now LOL

A slight chance of a wintry mix here overnight tomorrow I feel. Off-shore wind, cold surface flow ahead of the front. It's all about evaporative cooling in the heavier bursts; God, I can't believe it's that time of year when I'm thinking about evaporative cooling again!

The West Pennine Moors situated east of Chorley should do well in this.

The beeb has now put me down for sleet and snow from 6am Wed!!!

It may start out as rain but as the colder air kicks in it may turn to snow by the end.

METO

Hello all.

Good to be back for the best weather season.

Here goes......

Rain will turn to snow in places later on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. This could bring accumulations of 4 to 8 cm across some hilly areas of northern England and Scotland, largely above 200-300 m, with as much as 15 cm possible above 300-400 m. Overnight Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, as snow peters out over Scotland, there is the potential for snow to settle to low levels over parts of Yorkshire and down into the northeast Midlands, though with a good deal of uncertainty about this.
