The 12z GFS places Sunday's low a bit further south than the earlier run. It is still good for the southern half of our region but we don't want any more shifts south.

I thought it had shifted slightly further north. i look to have more of a chance

Hi All,

Good to have a spell of wintry weather to talk about.

Next 36 hours look great for the SWrn part of our region into North Midlands.  I'm North Manchester, so need a WNW, or troughs.

To me looks like WNW until midnight - but too marginal for lying snow at low levels.

Then a trough in the early hours ushering a turn to NW winds - hopefully everyone can get a covering from that.

Then 24 hours of NW or WNW winds - good luck to those further SW, probably dry in Manchester.

Saturday - winds die back and go WNW, but pressure rises - will be watching to see if can get some showers out of that to North Manchester (if it was rain the same situation would give hours of moderate showers!!)

Sunday - GFS 12z has whole of NW England in the firing line for the "slider" as does the Met Office warning.  Experience says they never get to Manchester, or just with light snow due to SE wind rain shadow.  We will see.

Good luck everyone!!

Looking at the slider on Sunday imo there is not much difference to the 06z looks like most of the region would see snow going of the 12z

Temp dropping -1.8'c per hour in Buxton with windchill making it feel like -3'c outside, combined with the forecast snowfall it's definitely a evening to keep warm indoors and catch up on some films.
