Apollo cyclone have interested in particular Siracusa province, not Catania, because winds in Sicily have flowed from north-east. If the cyclone had been nearer to Sicily, winds would have flowed from E-SE, so the maximum rainfall would have fallen in Catania province 

Now rains will interest in particular Northern Italy, with two perturbations, the first one on 1st November, and the second one on 3-4th November, when cooler air will enter from Alpine passes and probably snow will fall in Alpine valley floors, in particular in Dolomites

Today about 100 mm have fallen in Northern Apennines, between Liguria, Tuscany and Emilia. In Lombardy, in narrow valleys, thanks to homeothermy, now it's snowing at Ponte di Legno, 1200 m. Locally also in Lazio and Sardinia more than 50 mm. In Palermo 26°C, in southern Sardinia 25°C. This week probably will be hot for Sicily, Calabria and Apulia.

Now 29°C in Calabria. In northern Sicily 29°C during this night, now 20°C, because the winds have changed direction and so there is no more foehn effect, mountains there are high (almost 2000 m) and near the coastline, so when winds flow from S-SE it's usual observe high temperatures. During 2009 Christmas night 25°C were registered

Today heavy rains between Abruzzo and Marche, in Prati di Tivo, north-east side of Gran Sasso, more than 90 mm from midnight and almost 300 mm in november, but snowfall limit is high, now above 2400-2500 m, while in Northern Italy the snow has fallen under 2000 m

Autumn 2021 is proving to be very extreme in Italy, with a dry September and several flood phases in the south and in Sicily between October and November. It is also quite a warm autumn, with a positive anomaly of approximately 0.8 / 1 C.

For the next days models forecast a typical late autumn weather for Italy: high amount of rain in particular for central regions, from Lazio to Calabria, and the snow probably will fall at hill altitude, in particular in Liguria and southern Piedmont, where there are probably the snowiest places under 1000 m in Italy. Also in central and eastern Alps, northern and central Apennines and Sardinia the snow will fall under 1000 m

Today the snow has fallen above 800-1000 m in Southern Italy.

For wednesday models forecast the first snowfall in Po Valley. Probably it will snow in Milan, while in Turin probably will be a partial rainy shadow. In Eastern part of Po Valley, more exposed to mild winds that come from Adriatic Sea, will rain, but for North-Eastern Alps it will be a good snowfall, 20 cm are possible in Belluno and Trento. In Center and Southern Italy the snow will fall only in mountain.

For tomorrow it's possibile to observe gelicide in Apennines valleys, in particular in Emilia, while in Liguria Apennines valley floors could see 30-40 cm. It's possibile that the snow will fall also in some districts of Genoa, thanks to so called "tramontana scura", a cold wind that flows from Po Valley. In the afternoon the snow is possible in almost all Lombardy plain, not only in western provinces 

Tomorrow in Italy is a bank holiday (Immaculate Conception) and today in Milan there is the Patronal Feast, so many people will come back to their homes, from ski resorts or from Liguria, where many people have an holiday home. So it's possibile to have some problems in Ligurian highways and in Brennero highway.

It's possibile that high pressure will interest Italy for next week, perfect for the period with the least solar irradiance, in order to observe temperature inversions and fogs in planes, but also an increase of air pollution
