Giant flakes have now stopped  Got tiny dust like stuff coming down now.

But looks like another nice blob or precip behind it, (as long as it makes it over the hills).

If it heads S/SW we're in business i reckon, but due SW and it'll fringe western parts of the county at best.

This has to be the worst hobby ever, I'm not at all hopeful of a chance from this.   The intensity is fading, it's too far east  and the dew points are not on our side.  I'm going to have to have a gin to get through the disappointment

Afternoon just got in from work was out in Barton under needlewood this morning was very fresh around -2.

Has a few short snow showers over there started to get worried about the roads but it stopped so no probs. Was nice to be out and about in the snow.

Back home in Burton now not looked at the radar. Hope manage to get a shower or 2 here now.

If I don't look I can't be disappointed

Hope a few get some snow that have not seen any flakes falling and I see greedy Stoke may get some more.

Snowing in Nottingham at sister in law's so that's a good sign.

Around 1c and a DP of -1c here.

I think that's what is giving the illusion of it pivoting.

We should all see a period of moderate to heavy snow...but that big area coming down from north of York is obviously the one giving the Met Office concern because that'll give a quite prolonged period of heavy snow. And if you look, that's heading right into the warning area.

It's going to go right down the Transpennine route. Leeds, Manchester, Chester and the very northwest tip of our region are in for a very interesting evening.

The rest of us will still see something, but it won't be as for long as it will be for those areas.

That's my take on it.

I may be wrong...but I can't see a pivot....yet anyway.

Edit: And for those feeling that they've been very unlucky this week, watch the radar sequence and focus on the city of York...how close? Poor souls.

if that band of precipitation giving Met office concerns why then they only have the yellow warning for those areas until 18:00 hours or have they updated the warnings since I last looked thank you.

Well there is heavy snow within the warning area now.

And a warning is not a forecast, it warns about what has the potential to happen in the given area. And anywhere in that area has potential for heavy snow.

Although I agree that 18:00 as an end time might be too soon...unless they're expecting it to weaken.

It is expected to weaken as it heads south i think. It looks that way too

Looks a bit far West to make it now. Would have to arc straight South to his us. Credit its where its due for the warnings its bang on unfortunately. A few showers behind the main band is best we can hope for tbh.
