please can someone explain....those showers that have come via stoke were nailed on for me in NW Leics as they have approached they have completely fizzled out? Why why why!!!!!!

Although I would let the weather gods have that one, if I get to see some heavy stuff later, however all that activity in the North Sea looks like it’s going to go to the West of me!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhh

Light to moderate snow here for the past hour. Some heavier bursts. Left a fresh light covering, nothing like the start of the week though.

But looking crisp and white out there again.

Still, taking this week as a whole, if you'd offered me 3 days of falling snow, around 7-8cm of snow in total, i've have snapped your hand off for it!

Interesting at the   moment.

The current band coming down from the north west seems to be pivoting a bit towards the East now.

The snow for later is coming from the North sea.   (Ie North east)

Could we be forming a  low pressure trough some where to the East of us, which is pulling the colder air south and causing  this precipitation  (which I think came down from the Irish Sea area). Its definitely  starting to move towards the East down here.

First very light flakes starting to fall as I write this.

Light snow in Moreton-on-Lugg, just north of Hereford. Too wet to stick...looks like it's gone more sleety as I type this.

Light wet sleety snow here. Not something I expected this early. Too scared to look at the radar in case any heavier stuff misses this area lol

Absolutely.

We have been incredibly lucky.

Look at yesterday too...on the day it was primed for rain only, we got away with just patchy drizzle.

This is still the West Midlands right? We haven't magically teleported somewhere else have we?

Why do we do this

The MetO has me down for 3 hours of heavy snow from midday today - this is actually as likely as 98 pink giraffes rampaging down the High St and eating all the lamposts for dinner, before collectively buying Wetherspoons for 3p and turning it into a butcher's shop.

Temp currently 2.6c with a DP of 0.8c - yeaterday we only got rain when both were at 0c .....

So an hour of light rain it is then.

For the same reason that storms heading towards us from the SE fizzle out and die.

They go splat on the Pennines (like a bug on a windscreen) and dump it all there.

Flakes gradually increasing in size now,,,

though they are coming down a bit straight and are not fluffy (yet?)

- Not the best direction for us though,,, It has to cross the whole of the B'ham metropolis to get here.

(Too much hot air there!)
