I came down the A1 this morning from Morpeth and it was clear until I got to Washington services. I got through there at 5.30am with a bit of caution, my guess is now it'll be gridlock as it was pretty rough.

Happy with that snow overnight. Winter finally delivered albeit in spring.

Just clearing the snow off the car and I’m surprised by how much snow actually fell must be a good 5cm minimum.

Yeah looks like it’s only coastal areas that didn’t get a good fall or at least one that stuck around

Seems to be a few decent showers coming down from the North East these look like getting here by dinnertime.

We only get days of lying snow in Redcar and Hartlepool in exceptional winters 

Get temporary coverings now and again 

Even in 2010 we had plenty of melt and that was the coldest December for 100 years

No uppers actually getting colder and dew points dropping 

Obviously won’t help the melt in the sun but will definitely we snow or at worst hail falling 

Dew point now at -4 

It snowing really light here now

I think you've been unlucky. Are you right on the sea? I'm in West Park and we had a couple of days of lying snow in December from that dollop before Xmas and Elwick Road/Devil's Elbow were a nightmare this morning at 7:15am. Thankfully the roads have melted now. I can see the cricket club pitch from where I am and it is completely covered.
