The showers appear to be coming inland now , I think we will need elevation to get meaningful snow at the present time.

We look to have a good couple of weeks ahead with things gradually becoming colder and colder with increased snow risk later in the week.

Early hours of tomorrow morning will give some inland snow and keeping an eye on thursday for a better risk for our region.

All very marginal at the moment.

Hoping they track our way and not lose any intensity over the Pennines. We are not that far away from the Durham coastline, so if they align on a slight ENE tilt they should make it here, alas we have alot of high ground inbetween.

Some showers look like hitting tyne and wear within the next 30 minutes, be interesting to see what they fall as.

Those heavy showers further north around alnwick look to be falling as rain/sleet going off latest road camera

Not very promising for the rest of us then. Let's hope it turns a bit less marginal as this cold spell goes on.

Had a shower here earlier and fell as freezing rain with Dp at -4℃ and air temp at -0.6℃ i was suprised it wasnt sleet or snow..

Oh dear, well thats me not seeing snow... -0.5 and dew point at -0.8c lol 

Problem i feel is upper air temps aren't that low compared to the other day.

Ridiculously slippy outside. Just had the mutt out and almost went a couple of times with rain falling on freezing ground....!

The uppers are higher compared to the other day(around - 7 at one point compared to - 4 now) but seemingly it could be the 925hpa temps being on the wrong side of marginal looking at the chart on the Scottish thread so whilst the winds are off shore, they are coming in from the sea higher up hence melting the snow and (freezing) rain being observed at lower levels. Of course if we had lower upper air temps we may have lower 925hpa temperatures.

OMG! Durham is an absolute slush-fest, and as the sky clears all that goop is turning to sheet ice. Nasty.

Had a decent covering here in north east durham, was very surprised as went to bed with freezing rain. Next chance of snow looks to be Thursday

I’m 10 miles from the coast and other than a few rain showers we have seen nothing. current temperature 1.3c, light winds, I suppose that global warming for you.
