One thing that is always frustrating is on bbc graphics on news 24 just now the snow turns to rain and then goes over the channel in N France and Belgium and immediately turns back to snow again!!One of the advantages of being part of mainland Europe I guess!

Proper hard frost forming here, which is unusual for the time of day, current conditions and location. Wheelie bin was frozen shut! Cars already white.

SE London, between Lewisham and Eltham, for those mobile.

The front will slow some what as it hits the colder air to the east

Yes,it is quite a strong font though.

Which sadly is why it not supposed to stall.

We are in prime position here if it did.

The 18z UKV is looking a bit poor but more inline with thoughts stated earlier, looked increasingly likely that accumulating snow would be limited to parts of EA and the higher ground of SE England. We should all at least see some falling snowfall though away from the far S Coast if nothing else!

Nearby station temps reading 0c, with DP -1c. Seems lower than that here, but I am surrounded by a lot of green space which historically has affected local temperatures.

Just my opinion but I think this is under played slightly

If that system continues at it's current pace we'll all be covered in snow by midnight, and then all we'll see is puddles when we open the curtains in the morning. We won't even know what happened

It looks bloody huge. Like a pterodactyl.  Thank god I’m holed up in Essex where a barn owl or rogue pigeon is the nearest threat.

That might not be true, I've spotted a few birds of pray over Dover. Even watch a parent teaching a youngster to hunt the other year.

Temperatures are going up now! Bottomed out at temp -1.4 dp -2.1

now up to

temp -0.9

Dp -1.7

I guess that’s the cloud coming in already?

Sparkly frost all over the cars greeted us on our evening walk in Surbiton but, as you say, cloud was developing overhead. I too hope those of us on the western side get to join in on the snow fun ?️❄️⛄

It's moving at maybe 50mph, at a push 70, so there's a good few hours to go yet.

We won't be going to bed if it snowed by midnight

Indeed. So long as Daniel and any other SE & EA folk don’t get whipped away from whatever it was/ is in our moment of triumph (well a few cm of snow) we can all rest easy

It's nearly. 9.30pm, and the front is only just reaching far West Wales and just touching  Cornwall .

it will be after sunrise when it hits the east.  the movement I see shows it's not moving fast

Well, we got down to 0.7c at 6.30 this evening with frost forming on the cars, but temp is rising fairly rapidly now again, up to 3.8c now...

I wouldn't say I'm overly, overly confident about tomorrow morning. But I'm sure like a lot of us on here I'll be up nice and early to take the dog for a walk to hopefully be greeted by a snowy surprise.

Just a few hours of snowfall would be nice to see, we've all waited so long!!

Temp has risen a bit from -0.7c to 0.3c. Tbh i'm not too bothered about tonight's event. Best case appears to be some temporary snow very early morning quickly followed by rain. Hopefully it clears quickly!
