Big shift south on the ECM, not getting past Birmingham and mostly rain.

Looks like knowbody's in the game on the ECM apart from a lucky few in Wales, lol.

If it’s a choice between dry bright and chilly over the cold rain showing further south I’ll happily see the usual southerly correction on this occasion.

just hope that what follows in the coming days involves the sort of conditions we had up here in the immediate post Christmas period last year.

Poor Kasim getting battered in the mod thread for making a valid point again. Struggling to find the reactions to the ECM in there at the moment.

He’s from up Noooorth though!

If the low from the south doesn’t reach us I’d be surprised if 30mph Easterlies don’t bring showers across the Pennines.

The ECM has this low pushing into Scotland at 216, the question is will it slide???

All change and Blizzards by the 18z later just for a laugh!

I give up

Right that’s it. Ignoring the mod thread for a few hours. Some outrageously stupid posts on the last few pages.

I’m not giving much weight to anything ECM is showing for The next few runs as it has been a mess recently. Logic dictates that I give more weight to GFS as it has a consistent trend for 24 hours.

Chopping and changing through the models… reminiscent of recent winters… low pressures modelled too far north…don’t think we’ll have pinned down Christmas Day until Christmas Eve… all modelling after that is eye candy… 40cm gfs 06z to 3cm 12z gfs… to be fair sunny cold frosty Christmas would be nice

We really could do with a chase for cold North and South. We know in the North West the majority of us don’t do great for snow, certainly it is rare for us all to do well at once but at least we respect each other’s perspectives. I am sick of hearing about the midlands to be honest and the constant whining from the south East members.

Crap run, one for the bin, south of the m4, blah blah blah. This morning if I had believed the nob thread then Xmas cold was over. My location was showing a white Xmas and snow on Boxing Day too.
God only knows what the Scots think of it.

This year the content is by far the poorest it has been in my 12 years on Netweather. It is noticeable how the majority of regular posters over years gone by no longer post in the thread, sad but true.

Yes away from highland Scotland I don't think anywhere does amazing for snow, at least on a regular basis, we don't have ski resorts on the highest Pennine hills or Lakeland fells. Even in highland Scotland they've often struggled to get enough snow to open the ski resorts and lost a lot of money in the past. So when we do get decent snow in this country it makes it all the more special and enjoyable imo.

Honestly if I hear the words ”south of the M4” again I’m going to scream. You’d think the M4 was near Hadrian’s wall or something because everyone seems to be south of it.

Sunny cold Christmas would be great yes. At least I will be able to keep the booze on ice outside the back door .

Is there a meteor shower tonight… just saw a light shoot across the sky and seemed to be moving downwards… was not a firework… no bang but higher up and looked to burn out…

Yes, just checked and Ursid meteor shower is due to peak tonight, could be up to 10 shooting stars per hour in the Northern sky. Annoyingly, still cloudy here so can't see the stars at the moment.
