[Northernlights]

Still very cold and  breezy with frequent light sleet and hail showers(some very large hail too). Currently 5c. A gap in the showers revealed a very White Ben Wyvis half an hour ago. Some contacts further east woken up by thunder snow around Keith this morning

Really cold late afternoon with snow showers coming in off the Firth this one over Forres. Currently 5c and a strong NE wind.

Welcome back February....

Very cold day with a max of only 4.5c combined with a strong northerly wind blowing through frequent showers of snow/hail/sleet/rain.

Winds have calmed down now and the skies are clearing - harrumph, if only this had been the case 24 hrs ago as that solar storm seems to have been exceptional...

Castle Fraser utterly deserted this evening thanks to the weather, even a herd of deer grazing on the castle lawn when we arrived; snow showers never too far away.

Few pics from hike to Sandwood Bay cracker of a beach and well worth the 14 mile round trip.

1c start to   the  day with flurries of snow and more snow showers to the north across the Firth. Fresh snow down to sea level at the cliffs at Dunbeath and on the lower hills to the west .Good old fashioned north of Scotland spring. Cows and calves still in at night.

A few very heavy snaw showers around 8am covered everything in about 1cm... melted as quick as it accumulated once it stopped.. currently a heavy shower on again.. if this is winters last stand then so be it..

First swifts/swallows/housemartins sighted here yesterday. Earliest in the six years I've lived here. Bet they regretted it with this morning's 42nd air frost at -4.8C!

Pretty good snowcover on the Cairngorms today. Shame the hill is closed for the season, may have been quite fun at the top.

Cold evening here already at 2c showers fading over the Firth but captured a moderate one  to the east earlier this evening

Swifts are back here too.

Only -2 here this morning though.

Just a few swallows here end of last week, but arrived en masse on Sunday.  Nest reburbishments underway, but finding wet mud proving difficult.

Funny that recent frosts have killed off french bean plants, but adjacent peas seem fine.

Minus 4.4 on the Davies Station but impressive -7.4C in Stevenson screen now the top field. Another cold raw day, warm in the sun but bitter out of it, further light sleet and snow flurries off and on this afternoon. Another cold one again tonight I would think.

Overnight low of -1c and a sunny start to the day.

Didn't last, cloud increasing as the day went on with showers of hail/sleet from early afternoon onwards.  Light winds throughout and a max of 7.1c.

Snow falling on the hills around here this evening, Hill of Fare was temporarily white after this one...

This cold spell has lost its novelty, could the weather gods please reinstate the glorious weather from last week

Forecast was cloudy but actually was full sunshine until about midday. Sunny spells thereafter, reached 12.8c. Not overly warm but could walk about in a t-shirt in any sun. I’m slightly sunburnt, hope things continue to warm up

Same down here. ready for real warmth now and want to see the garden picking up. Beenbright and sunny most of the time but very cold air.

Raw wet day with steady rain. Currently 8c

I'm not sure I've seen a 7 degree range at just 36 hours before from the ECMWF ensembles!

Well today is different. The air is gentler warmer and its actually nice outside even at this time in the morning. Sky grey but sun trying to break through, temp on Puffy's weather station 9.8c.

Yes milder and very humid this morning at 10c but by late afternoon with a bit of a clearance to the NE it was cold again  at 6c
