Only got you to 4.3 today, 2 degrees colder than yesterday. So that's why it felt cold today🤣

That's nothing. Apparently there's a 1000km beast from the east coming, according to the daily star.

-2.7c the low last night, before cloud arrived and the temp shot up.

Sensationalism pure and simple. Looks like the SSW is very possible now, but it doesn't mean a beast from the east is definitely coming.

Hopefully though we don't end up under the high this time. That has happened in some past SSW, and to be honest I've had my fill of February highs this year already lol.

Saw a queen bee 😧

Saw an absolutely enormous bee last week; I don't know my bees so not sure if it was a queen or just a very large one!

Muddy at the park today after yesterday's winter wonderland of hard frost and frozen ground, but at least today the ducks weren't paddling through the thin ice that had started to form on the pond.

Went down to my woodstore this morning and this beauty - a Peacock butterfly I believe - was out sunbathing on a log. I don't blame it - despite being only 9.9C at lunchtime here it felt lovely and warm in the sunshine.

I managed to get this photo before it fluttered off. Could contain: Animal, Butterfly, Insect, Invertebrate, Moth

but like i says, run the loop ,it  could of been a cracker ,but  high goes goes go go on  to Greenland,  you think go on ..no our high goes  it grabs the east Canadian or artic high and  drags it kicking screaming down to just off western Portugal, dont get me wrong ,it does give a portion of the vortex a chance to slip off down north sea ,but a stiff northerly not always great here top of the hill snow  stuff ,4days till all is back to square one ..thats not other side world ,ssw, tele connections etc etc ,when la nina fades east pacific will lose the three year stubborn high ,el nino weak or strong will prevail ,im sorry but the Azores is like s**t to a blanket ..

Something is brewing in the MOD thread🫖

That it is, but what exactly won't be known for a while yet. For now warm high pressure will be around.

Like a cold spring and not quite enough for this or that  just all a bit too late in the day  ..you know ?

I'm not so sure, but it won't be to long til we know. If we end up in the wrong place for cold from this SSW, I'll be avoiding the model thread though, as it'll be carnage.

Ok so my question, from reading the MOD thread, and I don't really want to post in there as I've probably misunderstood everything and the are so many conflicting posts. But if, as seems likely, there is going to be an SSW and, from what I understand, roughly 60% of SSWs lead to cold weather in the UK, why is the met office only suggesting a small possibility of cold wintery weather in March? That doesn't add up surely it should be a significant risk?
