Morning all, again.

No wonder people get very cynical, about Weather Forecasts.

On the BBC Website is the following Forecast for London, Tomorrow:

Sat 28th  - High16°, Low10°.  Light rain showers and a gentle breeze.

Abd yet there is a "Warning Triangle", in the right hand corner, of that info, stating the following:

Met Office warnings issued for Greater London:

Yellow warning of rain

Starts: 00:00 BST on Sat 28 October

Ends: 06:00 GMT on Sun 29 October

More wet weather could bring disruption to parts of southern and eastern England.

Confused. Com,

Tom Q. 👍

BBC is in general, the warning is mostly about those coastal showers your on about. Doesn't really come over in either text on the website though. There will be a squall through London tomorrow though.

Morning all,

Almost a repeat performance, with "Mr Moon" attempting to wake me up at 2.45 A.M., for the 2nd consecutive Night but I was "saved" for a while by a veil of cloud that was associated with a light Shower that had made it all, the way to S.E. London, from the South Coast.

But the Moon did break through eventually at around 3.15, as that Shower, moved away.

You're probably thinking, Tom why don't you just get up and close the curtain.

That suggestion is flawed, on 2 counts.

1.] - According to 'er who shall be obeyed, I would no doubt trip over the edge of the bed, ending up with multiple fractures.

2.[ - In the act of walking to the other side of the Bedroom, would no doubt wake my Wife up.

That really isn't a good idea, at that time of the Morning.

Let me introduce Colette, after she has been woken up, in the middle of the Night - image.thumb.png.a31e028c41981751c7eef0a7f0f32108.png

NO, that is not a good idea!!

You must all be thinking, that Tom is under the thumb. No, this Tom is getting too old for "domestics", at that time of the Morning.

More thunder and lightning in Dover.

Likewise, Alexis and so it came to pass.

Below, is a link to that much revamped Meteox Radar site, showing those heavy and thundery Showers, running into the S,E. Coast.

Rain radar & weather forecast | Meteoradar

And below, is Elizabeth Rizzini's Weather for the Week ahead forecast, for the MeteoGroup forecasting organization.

Weather for the Week Ahead - BBC Weather

If you take a close look at the lovely Lizzie [behave chaps, I mean her charts] expected accumulation of rainfall over the next few Days, you can just make out a small slither of lime green, along the Sussex coast, and a little bordering Kent.

I think that's suggestive of some lively, thundery type Showers affecting those areas.

But please keep them to yourselves and don't want to see them making their way up to S.E. London, thank you.

This would mean Yours Truly switching off his TV and turning on the lights, unnecessarily.

Unfortunately, Brontophobic habits die hard!!

Regards,

Tom Q. [under the thumb]. 👍

There's a proper atmospheric river overflowing on East Sussex today; we have seen 56mm (nearly 21/4" in old money) of rain in the last 24 hours here.

Got to wonder whether we may see some bad flooding by Sunday evening by coastal areas given some parts are already at 35-55mm as of 6am with more coming down. Arome has some places getting towards 100mm by that point, seems like some places may ho higher than even that.

Different conditions today compared to yesterday. Then we had frequent heavy showers with clear gaps between.
For much of the night we have had continuous heavy rain, still continuing at the moment. 19mm so far since midnight.

Indeed, this is the other end of the scale. Hoping we get a nice easterly to dry us out.

Really noticed a change in the leaves the last 10 days or so, some starting to fall, lovely autumnal colours.

i expect a big fall from the trees by next weekend, just in time for bonfire night!!

Today really is a day for staying in, watching tv or listening to the radio whilst having one eye looking outside the window. We've already got a lovely Lamb curry in the slow cooker for this evening 😋

Non stop downpours all night and still ongoing, areas nearby starting to flood. Typical coastal mid-late autumn conditions.

Yes I’m in Winchelsea what a wet night 50mm+ since midnight. Bounced it down. Serious flooding issues if this continues, Hastings is flooding. @Tamara thought you might be interested.

Just now, kold weather said:

Hastings had about 40mm from 00z-09z and there may well be a little more to add on to that this morning.

Pretty probable we see a 48hr reading of 100mm somewhere this weekend, very wet by any standard.

63mm at Dungeness

I live in Portugal now, but those pictures are not a surprise. Not helped at all by the ineptitude of the water company.

The present pattern is a more prolonged version of what is fairly common mid to late autumn conditions along those channel coasts. The coming week is also looking very cyclonic.

Here in Portugal the drought has broken, except for parts of the Algarve & Alentejo, with a fair amount of rain over the past two weeks. The hottest first half of October is heading towards one of the wettest second halves, more especially though for the north of the country.
