The NetWeather radar has gone down for me 😫

Sky overhead is very agitated, although concerning is a closer flash I just saw was to my SE - sure I heard a super distant rumble from it. If the line is already east of here then it may just be some flashing and eventually boring ‘wrong side of it all’ rain.

Will wait a bit longer.

Edit - damn, another few bright flashes to my East (and distant booms)

Got the radar back - interesting that there’s a general zone of convection breaking out all around me but only that to my E and NE is so far electrified - despite the outbreaks to my west being the more impressive on radar!

Some nice bright flashes and decent rumbles though from the stuff just to my east.

At what point do I give up

Nevermind

Just saw a bright flash

Honestly,I think that the radar has got a the lightning wrong, I think there's a lit more, in fact I think there's quite a lot of dry lightning with this.

Bright lightning every couple seconds now

The sky to my East is now CONSTANT lightning with occasional rumbles. Just had an impressive distant explosion from a positive strike! Anywhere west of my area might be out of luck!

On Shoreham beach now and getting treated to some nice lightning and booming thunder. Will be heading east towards seaford fairly soon I think.

Anywhere east of my area will probably be out of luck, constant flickering to my west which is blocked from view.

Jesus Mary Joseph and the wee donkey! This is the most intense storm I've ever seen!!!! We're talking a flash every 3-5 seconds!!!!!

Yup! It’s more active than I was expecting. I counted 13 flashes in 30 seconds - and it’s about 10 miles too far East 😢 going to call it quits shortly. Had my fill of mostly cloud flashes.

Update - here comes the first convective downpour overhead. No lightning apart from the lot flashing to my east.

Just woken up by thunder from the storm East of London, looks like it will pass to my West through Thurrock/Basildon

Now flashing every 1-2 seconds - amazing lightning frequency.

Nothing in Reigate. A little bit of rain and.....nothing else.  Activity appears to be dying out as storms reach the south coast, too.

That storm off the Norfolk coast has a mad flashing rate now. Typical as it heads offshore! Every 2-3 seconds.
Think I may have just seen the first flash to the South now!

depressingly quiet here in Bexhill, all forecasts I’ve seen for here over the last 24hours have so far been completely wrong. Everything west of Beachy head again. That first train to eastbourne is looking a desperate temptation

The burst of heavy rain just now woke me up, but seems like I might have missed the rumbles reported earlier as I was sound-o.  Bleeding typical!

Can't see any flashes mind you, has the electrical activity died?

You couldn't make this up. Lived SW Suffolk, NW Essex and Cambridgeshire border 37 years of my life and to be honest this area experienced a severe weather event every 5 years, WITHOUT ME CHASING!! If you storm chasing brothers zoom in to NW Essex you will see what I am seeing........ an all singing dancing thunderstorm!!! I moved to Lowestoft 2017, and as an avid storm-chaser this was the worst damn move any sound minded human being would do EVER!!! I reassured myself I didn't need my car tonight............. BACK TO BASICS!!!! 2023 I am chasing every damn storm across East of England, even if it means I spend an absolutely stupid amount on fuel!!! This can't carry on....... I was up there with Paul Sherman (my pal) back in the day. 2023............ the RETURN OF MAMMATUS 🤘

Beginning to see them now more often. Think the main electrical area will head over Dereham/Norwich. I might hit the road before work to try and get this lot!

Flashes to the west of me, flashes to the right. Into the valley of nowt happening we go.  More seriously, the matchsticks propping my eyes open are beginning to break...

Come on storms.

Some intense flashes and impressive CG on the Brighton webcam.

Currently just distance rumbles hear, now, occasionally being masked by the first planes into Heathrow.
