Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

Recommended Posts

There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now. Next weekend may see a more direct hit with the potential for southerly winds to draw some of that heat north and take temperatures into the mid or high-twenties.

We are currently on holiday in France, stay near Paris on holiday, and it is hot today. We moved our holiday week back a week a few years ago because of heat, looks like we will be moving yet another week later in future.

Freaky weather continues, will mainland Europe have an autumn at all this year, our weather seems to be summer with autumnal spells so far to in the se, autumn has arrived properly further north though.

Well even hotter today in Paris. Looks like a cool down tomorrow. Officially beyond Mike57 and MrsMike57 comfort zone today, 28c, only saving grace is that dew point is 7c.

Depends how you define autumnal- at Rostherne almost every day in September was above average- even in the 2nd half. Very few nights in single figures.

I guess "modern autumnal" or "new normal" work!

For me it's temps in the teens, Manchester airport hasn't reached 20c since 10th September. Leaves starting to change on some types of trees like they are doing now etc. Low morning temps are quite rare in Autumn as well especially early on, often too much wind and weather like today. November though can be early taste of Winter some years with more chance of single figure highs & frost should there be a break in the cyclonic conditions.

Rostherne reached 20.4C on Sunday 24th and is the official site for the area. Also 19.7C on the 26th and 19.0C on Friday. Personally I don't think that's really autumnal. There were a lot of days cooler than that in July this year.

Light-wise it's very autumnal now of course with the days rapidly shortening. Trees are slowly changing yes but I noticed some were changing colour at the end of August this year.
