Even cold spells. Only last a couple of days now. Not like the good old days.

The 'good old days' should be banned from every site!🤣

Yes this has been a short sharp cold spell but not what most would call significant I'd imagine, some might do, everything open to different interpretations. I'm still not giving up on February bringing something properly noteworthy and persistent though. We'll see 🙂 if not an early taste of spring will do to save on the heating.

All change tomorrow 😟

I'd say it's been significantly cold but not a particularly memorable event.

Its weird for me as I lived in Manchester for 28 years and barring 1996 / 2009/10 it was hopeless. 2013 was ok I think Stockport where I was working. But seeing the pictures from the last few years I'd say things have improved. For low lying Manchester.

My current location is over the water in North Wales, coastal location actually renowned for its mildness. But have had a few blanket whiteouts in the last 5 years. Particularly last year. Impassable roads etc.

This spell yeah cold, but nothing like you guys have had, 3 or 4 falls from isolated showers not amounting to more than a dusting.

So 3 or 4/10 for me.

As compared to say 10/10 for Manchester Jan 2010

Keep this conversation going please!!!! I've been saying this for a while about low lying areas and finally someone hears me!🤩. Where I live in Stockport I hear the usual stuff about the cold snowy winters we used to have. We really didn't! Winters were colder yes, but no way were they snowier other than the ones you mention. Going back further, 79 and 81 were very memorable. This is now the 6th year out of 7 we've had good snowfalls. Wonder is it because our cold spells are now more from north westerly?? 80s were dominated by easterlies. Great for some parts, but not for mancunions. Snowy breakdowns from the south west even worse!!!! Is Manc the new Moscow!🥶

A sprinkling of the fairy dust here in early hours...just turned the ground white nothing substantial.  Still sub zero, but the last vestiges of this cold spell playing out now.

A bit of a covering on the cars and it’s filled in some of the gaps on the path where it had been salted but it’s dry at the moment and there’s nothing much on the radar that warrants the snow symbols showing until mid morning on the Met app.

not been a bad effort up here though with the couple of inches of snow that fell earlier in the week still largely intact.

Very light snow falling.

That counts for the final day of the current cold spell.

Edit. Stopped now

We seem to have got lucky with a couple of overnight showers and everything is covered again. Unfortunately, the lethal ice and frozen snow covering the roads and footpaths yesterday that could be seen, is now hidden again. Day 4 with snow and can't complain about that.

Dusting of snow on the ground from yesterday evening’s Cheshire Gap showers got down to -3c overnight positively tropical compared to -8c overnight into Thursday 😄 🥶

Today & tomorrow in particular will be transition days before the likely named  Storm Isha on Sunday. Amber warnings likely for some.

Watched last night's snow showers brush west of Macc, no top up here, just a smidgen too far East for them.  Still got a considerable amount of residual snow lying about in places, and on roofs.

Minus 1.8°C currently, slippery and frosty out.  Birds got more food again today, fresh unfrozen water and an extra fat ball.  Bit overcast.

Very slight covering from a shower in the early morning

Can actually see the  shower pass through on my timelapse about 3.20am.  Can see the anvils go up and showers decay

Grassington this morning. Still plenty of snow cover in the South Dales and cold. Yesterday morning saw double digit minus C readings  quite widely in that part of the Kingdom/NW. Some ice flows on The River Wharfe my farmer friend informs ! Shame its all to go tomorrow.
