I must confess that, IMO, The Day After Tomorrow was one of the crappiest films I've ever seen! 😁

At least the weather models were all in agreement and all smelt the coffee in that film which was a thing of beauty, I think the UK got drizzle out of that scenario though 😂

Evening all,

I see the 12z GFS was trying to get some W.A.A. [Warm Air Advection] going way out in Fantasy Land, as did the 12z ECM and GEM

 image.thumb.png.41370feac8ac8774d87f85bd72ed7edd.png / image.thumb.png.1ac215d72684b542377f9a3564565b56.pngimage.thumb.png.768f3d239ba0dffb6abd0b848c5f998a.png

But there is too much pressure from the - image.png.279798f4da5c42c60fd1269183741b67.png in the vicinity of Greenland to allow any Northern blocking to take hold, at that range.  P.V. [Pernicious Victor] needs to "do one" and back away Westwards to Baffin Island or better still, Siberia!!

Therefore my fellow South-Easterners it may be a long wait before and if we see a more favourable Synoptic set up, that may deliver something Cold and Wintry. to our Region.

We are now about to enter a phase of a much milder regime of Weather, and a return of some Rain and Wind.

With that gloomy outlook for us Snow starved South-Easterners, I thought I would leave you with a musical "Snow Fix".

Below, Phil Collins, Genesis and the delightful, Snowbound:

 Night all.

Regards,

Tom Q. 👍 ❄️ :snowman-emoji:

It's currently -2.1C here. But, should you like to cavort about naked, it'll feel like -6. . . I've never seen the point of 'feels like' temperatures!  :drunk-emoji:

This Winter for us in the SE may go down as the one that got away in regards Snow.

Twice things were looking really good, only to fail for many of us at the final hurdle.

I've not even seen a decent Thunderstorm for two years+

Winter is far far from over.

What we will see is a mild phase.

By no means a complete pattern change to milder weather going forward.

It's the 18th of January..

Noone can see clearly  past 7 days( if that) in meteorology...

Still game on as far as I concerned 😃

We had a cold snap in Dec, followed by a milder 12 to 14 days.

Rinse and repeat I'd say.

Apparently, we had an SSW last week Sudden Stratospheric waste of time as it won't be doing anything to bring a cold spell.

Mild it's not atm. Here's yesterday's max temps across the Region with most barely getting above freezing and frost persisting all day in the shade:

First proper frost on the car this morning. Not the worst I have seen this winter but certainly took a few minutes to clear it off!

I personally am going to 'enjoy' the mild for the next week, less heating use, not getting out of bed into an ice box etc etc!

There's a name for the part of day, not long after sunrise, where the temps actually get colder before warming up a bit. sure one of the meteorological educated will know what it is 😄

When I left for work it was -3.  where I am now seems a bit warmer, it’s 0 so it’s either gone up or just a bit better

I was training outside last night, it was an incredible night but oh my god it was cold. I’m pretty good at working in the cold but as you can probably remember I’ve been a bit chilly of late lol. I got home and couldn’t warm up whatever I did, which is pretty unusual, I have had to learn pretty quick how to stay warm in the cold, anyway I laid in bed and shivered for hours. I went to bed extra blankets, clothes, water bottle and wooly hat  😂😂😂 I looked like the mitchelin man
