I think this is where the matrix doesn't quite work unless you have been keeping an eye on it. So maybe there are still medium likelihood of medium impacts but also am additional low likelihood of HIGH impacts added on.

I've secured the outdoor stuff. The hens are not impressed and are lurking in a huff. Will await this evening and overnight

Going to fill the buckets in a bit to ensure we have some water for flushing loos if the electric goes out. Water is pumped from a cistern, if all else fails we can still lift the lid and dip a bucket in. Considered a generator, or battery backup, the last time we were out of power for days but could never quite justify the need.

Rain now lashing down, and wind has picked up. Wishing I had stowed away with daughter and her boyfriend at 4am at Edinburgh Airport, as the sun beating down on them now in Barcelona.

Well the new hoose came with the meter box outside with a handy switch for swapping between mains and a generator. I therefore felt it necessary to buy a generator to go on the end of that 16 Amp plug just begging to be plugged into one. It's great, as just a case of switching over and everything in the house will come on, including the oil central heating boiler. 

This 3 kw bad boy now lives in a wee robotic lawnmower garage next to the meter box.

My purchase will either come in useful at some point, or the jinx effect means we will never, ever experience a power cut.

Thanks so much for all the messages and lovely wee personal insights and family experiences. This place is great We’re over the moon with our wee arrival. Who knew something that regurgitates on you so much could be so lovable. Very busy, having a shower is a win, but very happy indeed. Thanks again. 
 

@Hairy Celt  my wife on the case with the snowiest Gaelic name suggestions. Calling a bairn “snowy” would be “Sneachdach”. Though Gaelic names are usually pretty traditional so this could be controversial to the older purists
 

Snow melt ongoing. Wind was up last night. Very quiet and overcast so far today. Power lines were upgraded locally last year so at least we’re in better shape for storms these days (hopefully..). Plenty logs stocked to keep us all warm regardless.

High tide down the Ayrshire coast is around 9pm tonight just as the strongest winds are due to arrive. I imagine there will be some pretty big waves, too bad it will be dark and won’t be able to see much but on the plus side the storm is due to be at its worst when not many people are out and about.

Back indoors after a bit of shopping, the rain is getting heavier with the roads awash with water, there's a bit of a breeze picking up too.

The wind charts are looking wild, not a pleasant night coming up.

Weird to look at the radar with all that heavy rain. We've not had anything heavy at all, just light on and off. Seems to be some sort of rain shield operating on Bennachie for the moment.

Mostly calm dull day here with little wind  

 Now windy with driving  rain in the last 30 minutes. 

Still ice and frozen snow on farm road between two partially felled woods. 

Ground was just starting to dry up a bit too. Managed to fill in worst of potholes on farm road this afternoon  in good conditions.

Yes it is...well spotted.

The frozen snow remaining on farm road brings back memories of the sixties and seventies when if  you got the usual heavy fall at New Year then from then to Mid March it was possible to have  a snowy walk in one of these cold spots in the woods during any mild interlude. Did not need to snow again providing there was the occasional ground frost to preserve the frozen snow.

For some strange reason, then wind appears to have dropped a tad. I SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT!  You know what'll happen!  It'll do what it's gonna do that's for sure and I've seen three forecasts tonight and all are a bit different. I'm hoping it won't be as bad as predicted. So, stay safe folks, just in case!

Torro highlighting the band of precip moving out of N. Ireland just now and heading for SW Scotland as having the potential for a tornado. 

Edit: it's the cell further south in Ireland but since then the stuff near Belfast is looking more intense. 

Wind gusts definetly increasing here but nothing crazy yet.

Pretty gusty here now. The direction of the wind is catching the back of the house. 
 

Looking like flights landing at Glasgow are starting to struggle.
