Well, I've battened down the hatches and filled the generator up with petrol.

Already pretty breezy oot!

Going to fill the buckets in a bit to ensure we have some water for flushing loos if the electric goes out. Water is pumped from a cistern, if all else fails we can still lift the lid and dip a bucket in. Considered a generator, or battery backup, the last time we were out of power for days but could never quite justify the need.

Well, the nearest chimney anemometer here in Aberdeen shows that it's a tad breezy and from the south....

Well the IMBY forecast seems to have lowered the gust speeds for tonight a touch.

Back indoors after a bit of shopping, the rain is getting heavier with the roads awash with water, there's a bit of a breeze picking up too.

The wind charts are looking wild, not a pleasant night coming up.

Is that the bottom road coming back from Kinross?

Weird to look at the radar with all that heavy rain. We've not had anything heavy at all, just light on and off. Seems to be some sort of rain shield operating on Bennachie for the moment.

Starting tae blaw a hoolie that's fir sure.

Really getting going here now. Went to take dog out, she peed on grass and went back to step. It’s an unusual direction right now coming directly from the south.

For some strange reason, then wind appears to have dropped a tad. I SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT!  You know what'll happen!  It'll do what it's gonna do that's for sure and I've seen three forecasts tonight and all are a bit different. I'm hoping it won't be as bad as predicted. So, stay safe folks, just in case! 😏🫣😬

The infamous backdrop scene of the electrified line Ardrossan/Saltcoats in a storm, being widely used by TV forecasts today.

Pretty gusty here now. The direction of the wind is catching the back of the house.

Looking like flights landing at Glasgow are starting to struggle.
