The build up to winter continues here at Netweather with a number of new items on the way over the next couple of weeks.

We also have massive upgrade to our SkiCentre on the way with weather, resort info, webcams, snow reports and a fair bit more for virtually every mountain across the world.

It is funny, even with all the computer models in the world, satillites and other advanced technology that we have at our fingertips. I always seem to know instinctively when the weather is going to change. Maybe its the way the geese fly in a rather unsettled pattern as if disturbed by the colder weather. Perhaps it was the extreme of warm weather just one week ago, where temps soared to 23C with unbroken sunshine. Perhaps it was even the slight niggly ache I get in my wrists and ankle joints.

After the fun of freshers week, it was time to knuckle down and start what I came to uni for. My first term of my first term involves 4 compulsory modules and an extra optional one. I have 2 Meteorology modules (Introduction to Meteorology and Weather & Climate fundamentals) as well as 2 Maths modules (Calculus and Vectors & Matrices). On our way back from holiday in the south of France I got a phone call from my neighbour, she had kindly agreed to look after our cat whilst we joined the rich and famous in St Tropez.

If someone were to ask when is a great time to visit Las Vegas, I would answer late September, since the average daily high drops from around 37C to about 32C and the normal low drops from 23C to 18C. For me, the difference between 37 and 32 is significant, when the temperatures are above 35 I don't want to be out in the afternoon and rush to get things done in the morning, but when the temperature stays in the low 30s I will spread my activities out.

Ive heard this before and again its popped up in the news and media. This time it is being linked to the oil spill in the Gulf. Well what can I say but, what a load of rubbish. Its the first day of September and a good day to start my weather blog leading up to and through the winter which Im really looking forward too. Anything like last years cold around Christmas and early January would be fantastic (not good for heat bills though). I had a good dumping of snow in early Jan and to see that again would make my winter once more. But I dont just love the cold, another hot weekend in early September would also bring a smile to my face!
