Quick shot of what I can see out my window right now (facing South).

My best guess is invitation right by the coast with coastal areas doing the best as the occluded front hits the coastal energy.

 Eagle Eye Hoping that the Arome is onto something! If so, I'll be right in the centre of it. Will be the first storm in a while. Just set up a timelapse for now and will post it here in a few hours, I'm interested to see what it'll look like.

Even if nothing happens, the anticipation is exciting.

Something something it's the hope that kills you. Don't expect frequent lightning at this time of the year, it's still the UK and it's not lots of energy.

Thanks for the updates Eagle! It's nice to see some early action this year, with today's potential and what was observed earlier this week, it's been a pretty good start to the season

I'm going onto this evening not really expecting anything, and if anything does develop it'll be a bonus. Either way I'm totally prepared just in case. 

Ps, is it too soon to complain that the we have to wait an hour longer for it to get dark? Good luck to those that have a chance.

Some lightning occurring on the northern flank of the frontal band- Looks somewhat elevated in nature, heading N/NNW. May head down to seafront if it looks like it has any chance of sustaining itself

Suspect that won't just be it, should be more forming ahead. However, if they don't, it's one of the shorter distances storms tend to travel across the channel for us.

Few towering clouds on satellite around Basingstoke, wouldn't be surprised to see a shower or two here soon.

 Eagle Eye If it helps at all: I use a 28mm lens, ISO400, f8-f11, 10s exposures if it's a busy storm. Then I stack the exposures during post-processing.

The clouds are bubbling up to the north of us here in Hedge End - hope I can get the first bbq of the season out of the way before it rains

 Stormhog  think you @'d the wrong person but yeah there's many ways to do lightning photography. That's why it's an art, I couldn't get your photos and I suspect you wouldn't get my very low exposure low Iso zoom in photos of CG' s that I do about once a year then decide not to do the rest of the year for no reason exactly the same as I would.

I know if I go and stick a camera battery on charge I'll put the nail in the coffin, so holding off for now! I'd never expect elevated storms off the channel in March...

Mine happened to be charged last week so avoided the curse that we pretend happens. Got that hazy nature and towers are developing in a small line. Usually good signs.

 Eagle Eye I can see the towers over to the east of Winchester. It's bubbling up pretty nicely in that direction.

Can't get any photos on here as my Quick Share just broke, but the clouds to my south look very smooth at the bottom. I can't see the whole structure sadly

To my north though, wow, as @ChannelThunder said, those clouds are huge.

 i dont know what are the pre frontals and what are actualy part of the front. more reds than a few runs ago on here now
