I've thrown in the towel for this neck of the woods unfortunately. Maybe a bit of sleet in the heavier burst.

Scuba steve think we’d better cancel the outside caterers and put the emergency chairs back in the shed again😂

Chris.R had a battered haggis from the chippy opposite Wigan North Western Station.  Can highly recommend it.

Thanks for doing all that working out on tomorrow's forecast 👍

Hearing on the grapevine that all Flintshire county council schools are closed tomorrow due to the Amber snow warning for NE Wales. Cheshire is one of those counties that despite neighbouring the likes of Flintshire  it’s somewhere where heavy snow can fall to its S, W, N & E and we are stuck in the middle with sleet 😄 🙃

A few hrs of falling wet snow & a potential temporary covering probably the best we’ll see here - Peak District will probably do very well for a time.

Flintshire Council has taken the decision to close all schools

Chris.R that's fabulous forecast suggestions for lots of areas... fancy a try for the Isle of Man? Please?

As an aside, our government's adverse weather committee has been activated to make decisions in light of our Met Office issuing an Amber warning for snow accumulations over 500ft. They take decisions on schools, public transport, and highways.

This story is almost as big a let down as the snow hopes in the South.

Just a few hours before the Amber warning comes in-to effect here and luckily I managed to pick up my new Hyundai i10 from Stoke this afternoon without needing to worry about the weather, plenty of grit is already being spread on the A53 Staffordshire-side but it seems that Derbyshire are typically using their stock sparingly.

 Day 10

I'm also noticing on the recent PPN charts now rain seems to be the order of the day, the rain shadow has also disappeared and it's looking more like a solid band of PPN again.😂

Geordiesnow I’m very hesitant to write off an event before it’s started and it will still be a significant event for Peaks & Pennines but if it can find a way for it to cold rain in NW England it will, no shield to speak of & it’ll pour! 😄🙃
