It's all about elevation today. Just gone up another 50m and it's a different world up there....

Snow intensity finally starting to increase - and good to see the heavier precipitation has reached Sheffield and progressing north. Fingers crossed for the afternoon. Settling on the Yorkshire Stone paving now - just tarmac to go!

Maybe I’m interpreting the radar wrong, but it seems like the front is moving further north faster than the models were predicting.

As expected a dull wet windy day on the east coast, had about 10 flakes of snow around 10am and a power cut, so cold and unpleasant without the snow bonus☹️

summer blizzard it started settling fairly soon after it turned to snow to be honest..

Just been told the schools are closing at 1pm.  The roads are pretty dicey, luckily we’re 2 mins walk from school !

Another event where Sheffield is the sweet spot it seems. We've done well the past few years really even when the synoptics have only been marginal

Has turned quite heavy in south Leeds and starting to settle on roads.

Even though being only 30m asl, Dishforth has some snow too! I guess being a frost hollow area helps a lot.

From the security cameras, we’ve got a covering at home in Barnsley snd it’s still snowing moderately.

We’ve been down in Helmsley this morning where it was raining quite hard, but back in Hutton le Hole and we have light snow, but only really starting to settle on the grass.  A couple of miles up the road at The Lion on Blakey Ridge there is now a good covering but the road is still passable.

Coming down really well here at the moment, a few cm so far so let's see. 2-5cm will probably be a correct estimate for today 😎🌨️🌨️

Heaviest snow of the day that looks like could last a couple of hrs. Front is moving through quick.

Dint know about snow into this evening looking at the radar.

Coming down nicely now and settling everywhere. 2cm of snow on the bins and shed. Temp at 0.2c. 3 to 5cm on the cars and bins seems likely now, a little less elsewhere. Good call @Scott Ingham. As you noted, models slightly overestimated dewpoints, which made the world of difference.

Majority of Sheffield at a standstill now, causing a lot of issues. My road for office is 4x4 only now

Snow starting to settle in Bradford Centre, roads out got progressively worse with settling snow. M606 was getting bad but that got better as I got to the M62. M621 was notably slushy and starting to turn white.

It's enough to turn everyone on the roads into nervous learners.
