Looks quite wet on the radar but rain band passed over Peterborough with not enough rain drops to count on one hand

Mostly a sunny day. Went a bit cloudy for a couple of hours this afternoon but back to bright sunshine by 4pm with a top temperature 15.5°C   at  15:17.

Current Temperature 11.2°C so don't hold much hope for single digits tonight.

Expect some sunshine and mild - Result : Cold, Cloudy and drizzle

Expect cloud and drizzle rain soon - Result : Cloudy, dry and rain almost into late afternoon!

😡 Ruining my plans!

i still cant believe we cant get a  high or a block in the right place  even this time of year or  right orientation for a slight cold snap , you know what's going to happen though ,come mid May beginning of June we will in the  South East have   a nice nagging chilly North Easterly for sure

That was a wild 5 minutes as the squall came through. Heavy, driving rain and hail, the trees waving wildly and the temperature in our lounge dropped as the wind came through our dodgy window frames and down the chimney.

That shower just made it over to Coulsdon. It was hail mainly here and has given the lawn a covering so it mainly looks white outside now rather than green.  Temp dropped from 8.4c to 4.1c in the space of 3 mins.

Just now was probably the most exciting weather we've had all winter - a 5 min hailstorm

Definitely an April shower sorted of day here. Come over all dark suddenly and we've got a little squall going through.

We have come just south of Bordeaux, France in the hope of some better weather for Easter. I have just watched the ECMWF predictions and the whole of Western Europe looks dire! This huge depression comes in across us all and then stalls over the UK essentially as a vast unwanted Easter egg of rain. So it's not going to be any drier where we are - the one good bit is that when the sun DOES shine it's a bit more powerful.

While the beeb/met keep peddling the climate change agenda "MILD", it's once again feeling COLD. In fact so far since last year say Oct, there's been ONCE i've not worn my coat. Hate it

 Neilsouth

Thats becuase it's below average right now.

However going through March it was above average. March is a cold month, we had April-May temperatures quite a lot of the time.

Eagle Eye But the issue I have with that is, with most of March being cloudy and wet. They never use the "FEELS LIKE" indication unless the temps are below. The feel difference between 13C in calm sunny days and 13C under cloud, wind and rain is stark. Never really tells the whole story, which is why I've always had an issue with it.

Neilsouth it's chilly, very normal temps for March at the moment, if anything, a bit below average for the SE. Yesterday was 9c max and 4c min. Today is 11c max and 3c min tonight.

Regardless, average temps in March = pretty cold. Definitely jacket weather at minimum, coat weather depending on wind and personal tolerance.

Mild in March for me is anything over 13/14c and sunny. Last Thursday for example.

You're bang on btw about actual temps vs perception of the temps based on rainfall, cloud cover, wind levels etc. it was one of the main reasons why the whole argument of "but the CET was around mean/average temps!" for July 2023 was so frustrating to me. It just straight-up ignores the fact that A) most of the month was plagued by cloudy conditions and many days were rainy, and B) CET and mean temps are strongly affected by nighttime temps, so mild nights make a month look much warmer on paper even if 99% of us don't give a single monkey's about how mild it is at 3am because we are in bed.
