  1. I'll see you guys on March 1st 2016. I have had it with this wretched season. It's doing its utmost to be even worse than the vile monstrosity that was the non winter of 2013/14. So many people are suffering now it's beyond ridiculous. It's getting to the point now where my life long enthusiasm for the weather is being crushed to death the longer the misery goes on for so many. No more forecast watching, no more model watching until March. Enough is enough. Adios.
  2. Would not be surprised if Cumbria is under a red warning again by Boxing Day. What a hateful season this is.
  3. Every weather type can cause disruption - agreed. However cold snowy weather doesn't make people's homes uninhabitable for months on end like in say Cumbria this year...and Somerset two years ago.
  4. That's the problem. Our weather is "supposed" to be variable/changeable/unpredictable. For weeks and weeks now it's been anything but. It's been desperately dull...far too mild and for some far too wet. If the glosea is anything like accurate then the first half of this season is only good for the bin.
  5. Maybe the fact that the Polar Vortex is glued to Greenland like some hateful limpet...likewise the Eurotrash slug which has well and truly made the first third of the meterological winter into a horror show that won't be looked back on with any fondness. As long as those features remain dominant it's more than likely the rubbish non winter will continue. Time is not standing still. Once we hit January the clock is well and truly ticking.
  6. Those poor souls are going to bid this wretched month a hearty good riddance.
  7. After the non winter of 2013/14 with its abundance of Jam Tomorrow charts (10 days away) which never came closer than 10 days away while we suffered relentless wind and rain, my faith in this (so far) non winter's version of Jam Tomorrow charts is not strong. In just 3 and a bit weeks, the meteorological winter will be half way gone. The clock starts ticking once we hit New Year.
  8. You'd like more wretched gloomy wet and windy weather then? Not sure the residents of Cumbria whose Christmas and New Year has been wrecked by their homes being flooded would agree with you...or people in North West Wales...or Dumfries and Galloway...or anyone who suffers from SAD. Lower power bills? You having a laugh? Having to switch the lights on around 2pm because it's so dark and grotty outside hardly helps on that score! but hey...long as you like it eh?
  9. When it's relentless gloomy miserable wet windy mild muck...then it's as enjoyable as a migraine.
  10. And if the sun shone! Comstant dark grey skies, gloom and rain getting on my pecs big time now
  11. We haven't had payback for the non winter of 2013//14 yet.
  12. Very mild (as per) at 14.7c but horrendously gloomy with it. So dark in fact that street lights are on...at before 2pm. The fact that there is rain in the air (what else is new) just adds to the depressing feel. Might be saving on heating bill, but days like this don't help with the electric bill. Dreadful day...the urge to just go to bed and sleep is strong.
  13. That it is so stupidly mild is one thing. Could almost be looked upon with a degree of baffled amusement. It is the utterly relentless damp gloom that has and continues to accompany it that is starting to drive people nuts. Too much of the same weather for a long period of time (yes I got fed up of the snow and bitter weather in March/April 2013 - and I'm a coldie) becomes utterly maddening to the point of being hateful. I shudder to think what people in Cumbria, South West Scotland and North West Wales make of the prospect of days more rain to come...as if they haven't suffered enough. Can only hope that a change comes soon...doesn't necessarily have to be ice days and deep snow cover...a good sunny anticyclonic spell will do so much good for so many. What we don't want is a stormy westerly type that was such a scourge during the non winter of 2013/14. Swapping one weather type that has brought misery to so many for another is definitely not appealing in the slightest.
  14. Still wet? Meh! Doubtless people in Cumbria will be thrilled at the "changes"
  15. Everything is wet/muddy...the sky is continually grey...the only variety being the shade of grey on any given day. Add a completely unseasonable and continually damp feel to the weather...SAD symptoms pretty bad. Not good...not good at all. A dry sunny spell of weather to lift spirits would be more than welcome.
  16. The only statistic that shows a number at or close to zero regarding this rotten first third of winter is the Manchester Winter Index....and by god it's going to take some shifting.
  17. Yep 1978/79 for me as well. Honourable mentions to 1981/82 and 2009/10 winters.
  18. Describing 10c in December as "fresher"! Ye Gods! That word belongs in Summer after a hot and humid spell...not sodding December.
  19. Sounds familiar. Remember hearing that a lot during the monstrosity that was "winter" 2013/14. Anytime there was a glimmer of hope that things were going to change for the better, it was always 10 days away.
  20. Realistic question. How soon until we can bin off this month as a dead loss?
  21. Not when it's bloody raining all the time...so no not really :-(
  22. trigger finger is itching as far as December 2015 goes. Ready to fling it in the skip marked "bad rubbish" to join its vile counterparts December 2013, January 2014 and February 2014.
