  1. Think I may take my camera to work tomorrow since I look to be in a reasonably good spot and theres going to be some lovely cauliflowers about. At the risk of Tuting off my collegues! However, if it does thunder we will likely stop work anyway being as we're tree surgeons.

Edit: lovely autocorrect there, I starred it out an all!

Just want a opinion, how close do people think any developments will be to me as I can only ideally go inland about 20 miles if that if I'm quick later on or would I have to go all the way towards Exmoor?

Wheres William I wonder? Seems Exmoor would have been a good bet! Love the dense little compact core on radar of the storm there now

  3. You're right there Joey, fantastic storm passed over us for about an hour, plenty of Lightning and cloud rotation too, passed NE though, not sure if you are inline or not. It really built out of nothing and intensified, I got very excited about the cloud rotation but it moved off on its merry way taking the rotation with it into the distance. Some pics:

Ahh lucky you! Sounds great, it's always nice to hear a report from the front line when your looking at something on the radar, even better when theres photos! Doesnt look like we're going to get anything here, electrical activity has died away.

  4. I can see Towers to the North West of me not on the Radar so may disappear in the next few minutes.

Was in the exact same situation yesterday, heavy showers not really far away and towers going up nearby. Headed out but came to nothing, was a nice evening tho.

Could see the thunderhead of the storm in East Scotland today, looked meaty! Couldnt believe how far away it was when I was finally able to check the radar, was about 100 miles away as the crow flies. Could clearly see the bubbling congestus on the rear as it was backbuilding and the glaciated anvil being blown SE. Glad I never started driving to catch it, would never have got there before it decayed!

  5. Well it looks as though thats it for the main event down here, barring the far se, just at Newbury showground now and managed to catch the last two cgs from that mass on the cf in this area. Think its time for a coffe and to get on the road home to bonnie Scotland.

Side note, anyone had any hail? Seemed quite prevalent in forecasts but I guess with everything moving thru quicker theres not been a chance for surface based storms to develop?

Please let me know if im wrong and theres another wave on the way, id happily stay a while longer here for another shot at this setup!

  6. A-mazing. Really glad I drove all the way from Scotland and stayed up all night. Was in Somerset earlier to meet it and, leaving that, ran straight underneath the development on the east side that is now the cluster rumbling northward through the West Mids. Best storm Ive seen since the 90s. Will post a link to some pics (hopefully got some worthwhile ones!) later on.

Supacell if your still on and not out chasing yet, it was worth it! (Also glad I sat tight and didnt head east too early!)

  7. Hi everyone, exciting eh?? I just drove from where my sig says to my mums house, 380 miles away in Gloucestershire! Currently eyeing that lot in N wales and the NNM6 wondering if I havnt made a mistake. Your all keeping my hopes high though, still a long way to go and theres bound to be a lot more to chase throughout the night. Im gonna be out all night with camera, probably head east of here a little later to somewhere around Hampshire. Ill keep it going tomorrow too, lots of coffe, lots of miles and hopefully lots of lightning to come!

That tiny blob on the radar from the window just now, cause we all love a photo..
