Warm moist air being dragged up from the Azores. Expect a lot of cloud but temperatures could reach the low 20s if winds manage to veer more southerly as the ECM is suggesting.

Ive given up on warmth. But a return to mild temperatures wouldn't go amiss and it looks reasonably mild from around day 7 onwards. The 10c isotherm hanging on just across the channel at day 10 on the ECM mean.

The extended summer will slowly slip away as we approach the weekend. Mild, even warm spells can occur in October but by then the leaves will be turning colour so any pleasant spell it have a much more autumnal feel with mist, fog, and perhaps frost. But what a good Spring and Summer it has been with almost constant warmth, with the exception that very cool week in August when we had that northerly.

In the reliable time frame its more warm and settled conditions with some mist and fog forming overnight in light winds. It stays this way out to next Saturday when a band of rain is set to slip southeast.
Pleasantly warm for the time of year.

It will be close as to whether September finishes on 15.0c or higher. If it does then that will make 6 out of 9 months so far 1c or more above average.

The ECM mean at day 10 indicated high pressure will likely still be in charge across the southern half of the UK. Further north the Atlantic may make inroads but how far any cooler and unsettled conditions spread south remains uncertain.

Those wanting strong gales and deep depressions just need to be patient. On one hand we have those saying that September has a tendency to have lengthy quiet and settled spells. And on the other hand we have those labelling the current settled conditions as unseasonal. Which one is it to be. I would expect the Atlantic to have fired up by early November but its too early to have expected gales and heavy rain to have arrived already.

Another spell of quiet Autumnal settled weather looks likely to see out September and continue into October. Nothing like the exceptional 2011 spell but temperatures would reach the low 20s widely. The ECM mean at day 10 shows high pressure delivering a lot of settled and warm conditions.

Looks like the models are showing a mini version of the 2011 Autumn heatwave. The warm air looks to be flooding back in time for the weekend.

Well would you believe it. The sun is out here and the final taste of summer has finally arrived but how long will it last.

Starting to get a bit fed up with this greyness. I miss being able to see the hills of North Lincolnshire from my office window and the fluffy cumulus passing by against a blue sky. There does appear to be a change on the horizon though. I do agree its been quite a frustrating summer for those on the east coast.

I love walking into work on a cold winters morning, sitting down and basking in the light of the rising sun coming through the windows. It really warms me up. Then some miserable sod wants the blinds closed

Next weekend is shaping up rather good if the GFS 12z is correct with warm air over the UK and winds dropping resulting in some very warm temperatures likely. Low to mid 20s for the Midlands and southern England with some lingering mist and low cloud likely over eastern areas. Considering how the breakdown has continued to be pushed back, one cant call anything beyond next weekend.

Temperatures really soaring on the GFS 18z considering by the end of next week we will be 2/3 through September. Very pleasant again today with very light winds making temps in the high teens seem quite a bit warmer.

Lovely settled often summerlike conditions at the moment. Its very pleasant weather for doing things outdoors and walking round as if if were still summer. In my opinion the real Autumn depressions and gales can come when the trees have lost their leaves. Thats when i start to appreciate the full force of the Atlantic. i.e late October.

GFS 12Z- Lots of continental warmth pushing northwards towards the UK throughout next week with low pressure anchored to the SW of the UK. The central slice of the UK looks best placed for fine weather persisting throughout next week. Towards the SW things will turn more unsettled, whilst towards the NE low cloud, mist and suppressed temperatures will once again be a feature.

This summerlike weather can last as long as its able to as far as im concerned. Anything to prolong the pleasant comfortable time of year. Im off camping 20/21st of the month and ive got everything crossed that the fine weather holds. If it does than it would still feel like summer, minus the light evenings, and would make up for the rather chilly weekend camping in August.

ECM 12z continues to pump a lot of very warm air in our direction for the start of next week. Low cloud and mist would peg temperatures back for NE England and England. Summerlike temperatures inland though.

Above average upper temperatures hanging on till the end of the run on the ECM mean. Remaining warm for the next 10 days judging by the GEFS mean too.

Winds swinging round from a northeasterly midweek to a easterly by Sunday bringing in added warmth raising temps to the mid 20s in the Midlands.

I agree, it would be silly if we had light evenings now as it would be completely wasted light due to the wind and rain. I like light evenings, but you have to have the right conditions to go with them to make them useable.
