  1. 'February to bring Blizzards'.....'Temperatures soon to dive to -18c'.......'Winter to tighten its icy grip'. Any more guesses for tomorrows Express headline?
  2. It was during one of late Spring/early summer easterly spells that weve seen a few of in recent years. Unlike southerlies you probably have to wait till mid May for warmth from the east. As April 2003 showed where it turned significantly cooler following the warm spell as winds switched to the east.
  3. I have just recalled April 2011. It beat 2007 by such a margin but probably wont be that remembered because it wasnt in Summer or winter. If the July record had been beaten by the margin it would have to be 20.3c. Astonishing given the prolonged heat of last July 'only' gave us 18.3c
  4. Summer 2012 occurred in March lol. I recall it being absolutely glorious most of the time, which meant that March 2013 came as an even greater shock. An average spring would be welcomed by me. I do like those ultra clear days in April where it can be warm sunshine one minuite and a hail shower the next. It doesnt really feel like Spring if we dont get days like that. Hopefully high pressure will pay us a visit during March and deliver plenty of mild dry days of 15/16c.
  5. Really look forwards to the first warm southerly of the year, which indicates the continent is beginning to warm up after winter. In 2008 we only had to wait until mid February.
  6. GFS in far out FI land has some early Spring warmth heading our way
  7. Weve gained 30 mins daylight in an evening. Still not enough yet to make it light when i leave work.
  8. Summer!! Parties, BBQs, beach, cycling, holidays, warm evenings, cricket.
  9. Was quite chilly this morning. When is it going to warm up
  10. Today is a prime example how how eastern parts are favoured and benefit from the lions share of the sunshine whilst showers or longer spells of rain pile into western facing coasts.
  11. Didnt realize we were running that far above average . GFS continues the relatively mild stuff but ECM would lead to a faster decline with some nighttime frosts.
  12. 3 things that i will recall from 2013 in years to come: The extremely cold March and the neverending wait for Spring to arrive The first very warm Summer month for ages and the long overdue visit of a proper Summer high pressure The storm surge of early December
  13. Quote from Reef: We're on 467.0mm for the year at the moment. The contrast between west and east is very obvious this year.
  14. Meteoceil has archive model runs going back a few years so you can see when the ECM, GFS etc started hinting at colder weather last January. Check out the difference between the ECM 0z and 12z on the 6th January.
  15. Winters not even arrived yet and there are already signs of Spring with the bulbs coming up. I work looking right out on the sunrise at the moment so it will be easy to notice the lighter mornings when they do arrive. Give it a couple of weeks and the later sunsets will be noticeable too. I await those long warm evenings of mid summer. Time to rename the title soon.
  16. Here we go! http://www.gaisma.com/en/location/kingston-upon-hull.html
  17. I couldnt care less what happens on Christmas day itself but i miss the cold, calm and frosty days of last year when out doing the xmas shopping. It makes it all nice and festive. But cold/grey and windy is awful, so its got to be just the right type of cold.
  18. Sunset 15:40 here. In a week it will be 15:42. I've not really noticed the dark evenings as much as i have done previously. Partially because the conditions have been adequate during daylight hours to still manage to get on the golf course. And in the evenings spending my time doing some 5 a side under floodlights.
  19. Very easy going weather at the moment. No need to de ice the car in the morning and you can just put on a light fleece/ thin coat when out shopping. If I was being choosy I would want the build up to Christmas to be cold and sunny with the mild stuff arriving mid way through January heralding an early Spring.
  20. Well i'm taken aback by how un-wintry the charts look. All those oranges and reds surging northwards. I fancy more of those Spring bulbs will have emerged by Christmas.
  21. Parts of Hull City Centre Flooded around Victoria Dock Village, Ferensway and Clive Sullivan Way. The tidal Barrier has saved the Old Town from something very serious.
  22. The golf course was a bit soggy in places earlier so an extended dry period would be welcomed by me. Models looking good as far as i'm concerned.
