  1. Having already lived somewhere that wasn’t the most ideal for wintry conditions (Glasgow), now having moved to the mouth of the Clyde I’m arguably in an even less favourable place! Don’t think it’s as bad as the Ayrshire coast and we’ll likely catch a bit off the Argyll side, and we should get a nice view of the snow capped mountains too. They are my hopes for the winter.

It’s the most dry, calm and still day here in the west, crazy to think such a band of rain around 60 miles away.

‘The boy who cried wolf’ comes to mind. Do we really need yet another yellow for heavy rain? Is this not just another bog standard autumnal low pressure system for England?

This is a very ignorant post. The recent amber warning affecting parts of *Scotland* for heavy rain was absolutely warranted.

  4. I don’t have an issue with the named storm idea in principle, the problem I believe is how it gets reported by the media. Part of the UK may be getting affected by a named  storm, say southern England, and the media reports that ‘UK braces for Storm Nigel’ or whatever, people elsewhere in the UK think this storm will affect them when it doesn’t. There’s no clarity on which part of the UK is being affected.

Perhaps if the reporting was clearer to refer to the specific areas affected, it would be less likely to lead to people losing faith in the naming system itself.

  5. Inverclyde is just a flooded mess. Most main roads are closed or only passable with care. Any roads with a slope have water cascading down them from the hills to the back of Gourock and Greenock. Proper flash flooding in places and I expect there will be damage to roads and properties when it clears up.
