  1. I genuinely wonder just how all the models got it so wrong? Info, observations etc fed in, output generated on basis of said info and yet, utterly, hopelessly wrong. Even forecasts a couple days out seldom right. I still don’t understand the faith in them, at all.

Does look like the models have taken a massive shift away from any pro longed cold. This has been a long chase.Going to be the usual

    Teleconnections are rubbish

Told you this wouldn't happen in early December

    Winters over

We are organising a group hug at 12 noon if you need it.

Let’s be honest though, on a percentage scale, how many of these Narnia charts actually verify? I’d stab at less than 1%. They’re as much use as a crystal ball when it comes to cold and Snow. Garden path stuff.

  3. I don’t understand the technicalities to make an informed post on MOD thread but this I do know, until it’s down to T12/18 I don’t get excited and even then it can go toots up! I don’t get caught up in the hype anymore. Been led up that garden path far too often..

The storm is now starting to ease, still blowy across Cornwall and Devon for a few hours this morning and across the coastline of Kent and Sussex, but that’s it Folks , Storms a gonna!

For Northern France and Channel Islands it hasn’t been but for most it’s been a huge letdown from a weather perspective. Pleased in some ways but disappointed in other respects.

It's Mercury inches. 27.9 is approx 945. Lovely looking old device and functional too!

Thanks. Yes it’s always worked. Not sure of it’s age. At a guess 1920’s/30’s going by it’s look though a completed guess.

I can't quite read it, but 28 inches of Mercury is 950mb.

I suspect this is around 948mb.

Thanks very much. Really low then. Still a long way to go yet so hope we all get some wild weather from a viewing perspective but obviously not so anyone is hurt by it.

  7. My old fashioned barometer inherited from my grandparents via my mum. Never seen it as low. No idea what the actual pressure is mind since I’m not sure how to read it correctly. Not particularly windy here. Bit of a disappointment thus far

  8. I’ll tell you what’s even more galling. Did t work today as painting exteriors, windows and doors so as well as losing out on any storms I’ve also lost a days money. More seriously it’s why many have no faith, or inclination, in what  to believe about what we’re told about Climate Change (not a denier). Can’t even get the weather right a day out. Hopeless. And annoyed
