Stirling to Glasgow M80 - very VERY wet, lots of surface water and the rain is chucking it down - interestingly - not much in the way of wind. I suspect when the low starts moving ne(ene ?) that there will be carnage in central scotland ... especially as it looks to hit mid afternoon/rush hour.
Stirling was -6 when I left this morning, and Glasgow was -4 when I arrived...
Clear sky's and an amazing low big moon...
It's days like this that I like....
GFS now refusing to allow spring in..fair enough it's well into FI, however the Ensemblies are still showing a chilly outlook well into the second week - sub zero averages...
The Stirling Snow Shield gave way overnight - a fair chunk fell but it was mixed in with sleet...still an impressive dumping for us...M80 in to glasgow was ridiculous, no gritters to be seen anywhere... Chucking it down with rain here in Glasgow - was getting some envious looks as people looked at the 2-3 inches on my car... Edit - oh boy http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/weathermap/?lat=56.58369172128337&lon=-4.8779296875&zoom=5&layertype=layer&layer=0 Also have a severe WW issued at 0348 this morning for Central/Fife region.....
Meto look to have the front moving back down south slowly after midnight - the temps look to hold up over freezing, so I suppose it's gonna be rain/sleet more than anything.
I'm right at the Passport Office, and it dreich, damp and downright Doomaggedon Central at the moment...
I live in the vain hope that something more substantial is going to hit us later on today - I've given up looking at the models....
It was blizzard conditions on the M80 betwixt Stirling and Glasgow - but being wet snow, didn't really do much except make my car wet and the roads mucky.
If that was it, then for all the love in Toorpendom, where's my toys.
Front currently creeping up through the NW of Englandshire.. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/weathermap/?lat=55.043227&lon=-2.724609&zoom=5&layertype=layer&layer=0
