  1. Nothing in Stirling when I left though there was a dusting overnight...Glasgow city centre at the moment, feels to marginal to get anything if I'm honest, it just doesn't feel cold enough. LS - if you're still on, I'm in Glasgow, should I be thinking seriously about leaving to get back to Stirling sooner rather than later ? The Easties online - is what's falling, heavy or just light ? edit - looks like rain/sleet on the M 80 near Cumbernauld..
  2. Good god-if that hits us they'll be digging us out for the next 2 years. That'll keep Cameron happy in 2014....
  3. Its a snizzle blizzard here...and bloody cold.
  4. And that, mixing with the front coming up from the shires, is going to be quite spectacular...
  5. The Beeb have finally put us in central under heavy snow from around 7pm tonight. That's the first time in a long time there's been 2 snowflakes on their graphic. My bunions are telling me tonight and tomorrow are going to be special. And bunions, smelly though they are, never lie.
  6. There's a fair bit of activity coming up through the Forth just now - temps are just about there and dp is below freezing - so given I'm now a confirmed Vampire, I'll be glued to the radar. As long as it doesn't smell of garlic, I'll be fine...
  7. The band off EAnglia and Yorks looks to have stalled...
  8. I get the impression from looking at the following link, we may be in for an immense day tomorrow... http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=exp
  9. Ooph - just seen Helen's forecast...now I have a dilemma.. I leave for the gym/work at 0330...do I risk leaving, or do I call a number 12 on the Steven McMurr Sporran Scale ? Everything I see, shows Stirling down the M 80 as a snowfest....
  10. Tomorrow is actually looking like it could be an all day event, and, as long as the uppers stay good, drop a massive amount of snow across most of the country. As if by magic, and as called by a few of us yesterday, the Meto have put us into Amber Alert. edit - been trialling an app in the Android Store called "Rain Alarm" which sends notification of impending ppn and it's intensity, and I've got to say, so far this weekend, it's been bang on the money...
  11. That's a line I just wouldn't want to cross. The fallout due to failure, would be catastrophic.
  12. My wife looks at me like I've got horns when I'm sat pouring through the 850's and ppn charts...when I warn her of incoming snow the look turns to one of mirth, then, when the snow arrives, she claims shock that "she never saw that coming". I love my wife really....
  13. Edo already Scotched it. 0- Nothing / Nada / just curtain dust + flies around the outside light (hee haw here) 1- Odd pellet here & there- however we can mentally confirm there are 'flakes' (pishy snizzle) 2- visible light snow falling- not visible to the lampost yet unless you stand underneath & obscure the light (need yer hand over yer napper tae see it snaw) 3- flurry level- makes light blue on the radar & a few flakes seen across the lampost (fannybaws snaw) 4- we can confirm snow falling without staring at the light- Can confirm to friends & loved ones its snowing via text etc (ehm sure its snaw) 5- Status 2- moderate flurry, its fine snow at the moment still- it looks quite hard in terms of snow falling however its not amounting to anything (englandshire snaw) 6- proper flakes falling- you will see them now- the odd flake mixed in with the moderate fine snow (proper snaw snaw noo) 7- transition to normal flakes all complete- moderate snow outside (Independent snaw) 8- 20p flakes going at a steady pace now- accumulating around 0.5cm - 1cm per hour (4 bob snaw) 9- heavy 20p Snow - visibly accumulating + 1cm per hour (4 bob and a highland toffee snaw) 10- entry level heavy snow arriving- 50p flakes fluttering in the 20p flakes.. awaiting the beast...(mental snaw) 11- 50p flakes nearly transitioned over- we can call it heavy settling snow 2cm ++ per hour (pure mental snaw) 12- Very heavy snow inch per hour all 50p flakes (nae skale or work the morn ya dancer snaw) 13- Blizzard- combined with +40 MPH wind- (The dugs bollix snaw)
  14. BBC Guesscast has Stirling under snow from 6pm today, and heavy snow from 0200. Kiss of Death IMO.
  15. 06z GFS would give the M 8 corridor carnage tomorrow morning..
  16. No !!! Slow Down...slow down.... edit - When's Mondy being reincarnated ? edit edit - this is becoming a bugbear now - Thomas Shavanananananazkaky has just delivered his latest ponderings, and, at no point in it, did he make use of the word "Scotland". "Northern UK" blah. I may be being overly sensitive, but my "YES" vote is gradually gathering momentum.
  17. As long as it hits us "after dark", I aint too fussed I'm going to turn into a vampire at this rate ....
  18. Just checking the radar as well - the MetO didnt forecast the band coming into the SE until later on today, but checking radar, it's already hitting the shires - clearly moving faster than progged...this I assume, is what we are expecting later on. edit - interesting as well - the 528dam straddles the central belt tomorrow at 0900...interesting times ahead..
  19. Bit of a snow-pellet whiteout in Stirling just now - bitter cold.... Just seen the forecast on the beeb. It's all about the snow in the SE dontchaknow.
  20. Still going in Stirling .. I think cheggers may have something with the after dark hypothesis. We have had nothing all day, but as soon as it got dark bam.... Interesting
