  1. Temp just dropped from 3c to 1.9c in the space of 30 mins, and on cue, the snow has started...
  2. Wind starting to swing round to the NW, now WNWrly - definitely moving into the cold period now...
  3. sleet/snow not far from us now..
  4. Yep - we were @ 8c at 0400, and it's now plummeted to 3.5c Pressure also dropping, though the winds interestingly, are still from the west..
  5. Torrential rain @0400 seems to have now passed, winds here in Stirling still from west, so the waiting game begins now. BBC forecasting heavy snow (IMBY) for pretty much most of the day, which is the first time in a long while I've seen that for Stirling.. Be careful out there though, it's blowing a gale and the roads are soaking wet....still think the MO will upgrade to amber for us for the evening rush hour, so definitely be careful coming home ...
  6. Warning Updated. Time to ramp is almost upon us.
  7. This looks interesting Potential for some ambers in the warning updates this morning.
  8. Think there's more potential next Monday for some snow as well...
  9. Sounds familiar - didn't they do that last week, then downgrade massively the morning of the "event" ? I'll stick to lamp-post leering on Wednesday....
  10. Might be wrong, but the latest GFS shortens the incoming snow to Wednesday night for a few hours...
  11. I go away for a couple of days, and look what happens. Almost scared to switch on the Ramp Early Warnings... Edit - Stirling's snow risk is negligible for Wed/Thurs.
  12. Stirling roads are horrific - black ice everywhere and not a gritter in sight..doesn't even look like they've been out through the night.
  13. Nope - rain all the way I fear !
  14. Stirling -4 just now... Just wondering when this "milder" air hits tomorrow, will there be frontal snow ?
  15. Well said. In this day and age of access to models etc, they should not, with the best will in the world, be "nowcasting". People rely on accurate forecasts - for instance, my boss put off a trip from Bristol to Rosyth, simply on the strength of the BBC forecasting snow through the day.
  16. I just wonder how the BBC(MO) could have been so wide of the mark, and not seen the front/s stalling/dying out over Ireland ? They were still forecasting snow up until the back of 9 this morning.
  17. Stirling progged for +7 and a min of 0 - so I'd hazard a guess that we'll be getting rained on all Friday...
  18. Why ? The main front/s aren't expected until later on this afternoon...
  19. -5deg lowest near me, with a -8.1DP
  20. Been up since 0200, and, the temp at that time was a balmy 2.1C. Not minus 2, +2. :shakeshead: Falling away nicely though, -1.2 and falling, but far from being the coldest night of the year...
  21. I think the showers will come further inland tonight....
  22. Stirling actually had the most snow in a while with that juicy shower from the northerly...about 1-2cm
